Plastic Surgery at 26

Has anyone here had plastic surgery done? Whenever I talk to other people about it, the first thing they say is "But you're so young!" It is the same thing they said when I had gastric bypass.  I'm hoping to get a tummy tuck, lipo, thigh lift, breast lift/aug, and get rid of the little bit of hanging skin under my arms. Think Barbie, but with a nice personality. Ha! If anyone has had it done, I would appreciate hearing how your recovery went and how you felt afterward. I ask here, because I think our "20-something" bodies probably respond differently than other age groups. If you have any doctor recomendations, I'm more than willing to get those, also. I'm located in Washington DC, but am willing to travel.  Thank you!

I had my Tummy Tuck June 21st.  I'm only 23, lol... and I sure have gotten lots of you're so young comments lol. I didn't have any muscle repair with my TT... just the panni removal with an anchor cut.  I seem to have a high tolerance for pain... so just felt discomfort.  I went in with a majorly horrible rash and that was the worst pain I endured.  The vicodin I had gave me wild crazy dreams so I had to quit them after four days.... Tylenol was my best friend :)

I work in fast food... I'm a manager so on my feet all day.  I stayed away from work for a good six weeks... I would have gone back at about 4.5 to5... but the T part of my incision opened and I needed it to be bandaged and kept clean.  The wound healed well enough in only a week :) The worst part for me was the drains.  They are a nusance!  I had two... one on each hip.  They were in for 3 weeks.... My next planned plastics is the removal of the skin my doc couldn't pull tight on my sides.  I had numerous rolls prior to my first round, he was unable to create that curvy waist... so I have two slight rolls on my right side, where I was largest and a tiny one on my left.  So that's next.... Then I think I'll be ok.  I'd love to have my thighs and breasts done... but am afraid of the potential complications with the thighs and believe I can always buy a good bra for my bewbies he he. Anymore questions?  ASK! :) My doc was John Burnett of Fresno, California... johnburnettmd.com

Thanks, Jaci! That is good to know. Did your doc give you a hard time about the TT re: kids in the future? I've been discouraged from having it in case I have kids. I'm of the mind that I want to look good, now and worry about kids later. Then again - I'm kinda anti-kid, anyway.

It never came up actually.  I think he saw the desperation in my face and voice.... my skin was horrible and ghastly.  Big words lol.  I'm not planning kids for quite some time- if ever lol.

I haven't had PS but i am almost positive i am going to get it and need it! I am almost 23 but i have been overweight my whole life. I think being young is more of a reason to have PS, especially since we still have our youth and we need to look good! I hope you find the info you are looking for, keep us updated!

I had a breast reduction a few years ago, I think I was 22 yrs old. I recovered quickly, I think I only took 2 weeks off. I am one of the biggest babies and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I think you would do fine!

I am totally with you.  I am 27 and want to have everything done after I loose all my weight.  I have lived my entire life no being able to function like others my age.  It is time for us to let go and live it up a little LOOKING FABULOUS!   Kuddos for you!  I will look forward to hearing your decision and journey.   Let us know what you find out about the "having kids after ps" thing too... Happy Wednesday!  Candice
