Eatin' Good in the Neighborhood and Roll Call - For the week of 9/3

Since I'm having a hard time making it to my computer every day to post this let's try a weekly thing.  If you're here, chime in and tell me what's happening and/or how you're doing with your food plan.  Here was the day for me.... Skipped my first couple of feedings since I got up late for church.... `12:00 - 3 Cream Cheese Wantons and 2 oz honey chicken (I LOVE Chinese food) 12 oz water 3:30 - The inside of a chicken taco from Taco Bell 12 oz water 8:30 - 3 squares of pizza (I was with my little sister at her freshman orientation and they had this spread where every pizza place in town set up booths so you could sample their pizza) Yeah, sucky day for food - I don't even think I'm going to consult fitday.com for this one.  I promise to do better tomorrow.  I start back to college on Tuesday and I'm a bit worried my health is going to be a problem.  I went with my little sister to her freshman orientation activities (she is attending the same college I already go to) today and now that I'm home I'm exhausted and in pain (the tube thingy irritates my stomach - so it is tolerable, just not ideal) and that is just after a few hours out and about.  I'm excited to get back to it though because I LOVE my major (I'm a double major in History and Broadfield Social Studies Education with a minor in journalism) and my professors this semester so I'm going to do my best to make it work. Anyone else headed back to school this week?  Let's hear all about it!

Hey AMy. As for the food I won't even go there> As for school. I am a little ahead of you. I started on the 28th. I have already been going long enough to drop one class. My scchedual was so crazy and hectic. I decided I need more time for me to start making the changes before my surgery. You have a broad based major. What line of work are you planning to go into? Right now I am majoring In elementary education. I really don't know if this is what I want to do though, so that may be changing soon. I ge my first experince in the clasroom this year so I will know soon enough. Good Luck on the upcoming semester.

After surgery the food thing will get better for you I'm sure - I mean the whole point of WLS it to help us curb hunger and be satisfied on less, but it is good you are at least paying attention now.  You've got some time to get things figured out. I plan on teaching social studies/history at the high school level (and eventually going back to get a PHD in history so I can become a college professor), though the past year I've really been drawn to journalism and/or some kind of career where I could write for a living.  I love social studies and I love writing, but I also love teaching so we'll see how it works out.  I'd better make a decision soon seeing as this is my 4th year (it is a 5 year program).   I think you're right, when you get that first experience down in the classroom you're going to be able to tell if teaching is right for you or not.  What year in college are you?

Now that I'm back around family and living with mother-in-law and sister-in-law it seems harder to eat the right things because there is more opportunities to eat something someone else has made or for "social eating and snacking" This weekend we had a barbecue for my daughter's fourth birthday and a ton of people and food.  Sunday: 9:00 AM Coffee 1:00 PM half of cheeseburger! (first one since surgery - man did it taste good!) 1:30-3:00 Two Corona's with lemon - I was intoxicated! 3:00 - 4:00 about 15 tortilla chips with salsa 5:00 - the other half of the cheeseburger 8:00 - a double scoop of protein mixed with 16 oz of water 10:00 - A slice of NY Pizza with veggies on it Monday: coffee late  morning - an fried egg, whole grain toast with LF veggie cream cheese, and some ketchup (a good start) early afternoon - two big slices of deli turkey with two slices of pepper jack and mustard - rolled up (holding steady) 5:00 - about 20 blue corn tortilla chips and salsa (this is where it starts getting ugly - this was while I was wating for dinner to arrive) 6:00 Dinner - A soft flour shredded beef taco with cheese and sour cream 7:30 - half of a big cheese quesadilla and the meat, cheese, and sour cream from the other taco This might have been my worst two day span of eating ever since the surgery - lot's of bad choices but I can't see it adding up to more then maybe 1600 calories a day. I guess that's the cool thing about this surgery, is even when you don't make good choices, as long as you don't spend the entire day grazing, rather eat every few hours - the restriction part helps mitigate some of the damage you can do when you are making bad choices. I got on the scale this morning and I have lost almost two pounds since sunday, crazy huh?

As long as it is working and you are paying attention.  I hope your daughter's party was lots of fun (I went to my little nephew's 2nd birthday on the 24th at Chucky Cheese and yes, kids birthday parties can turn into bad food nightmares).  Really your days don't sound terrible, not perfect but who is?
