The more things the change, the more they're still the same.
Hey Misty, I have a couple questions. Do you track your calories, grams of protien, grams of carb, water or exercise? If you find your weight loss is slow I highly recommend keeping track of these things in a food journal. Write down EVERYTHING (every bite, every sip) you eat and when you eat it (at 11 months post-op you should be able to go 3 hours between feedings and still get enough nutrition) and then plug in that information into a site like fitday.com or sparkpeople.com to get an over all idea of how much you are eating and where the calories are coming from. Talk to your nutritionist to get an idea of how many calories and how many grams of protien/carbs/fat you should be shooting for in a day, they will know best. For me, and granted I am just working on maintaining at this point so your amounts will probably be less, I shoot for 1400-1600 calories, 60-70 grams of protien and less than 120 grams of carbs daily (not to mention at least 64 oz of water). When you take a couple bites every now and then instead of sitting down and having a meal you are doing something called "grazing". By doing this you are able to eat more through out the day because it is mindless eating. When you sit down and have a defined meal you eat until satisfied (which will be on less food with your pouch) you are going to eat less throughout the day than a bite here and there. It is hard, but try to only eat planned meals. A planned meal should be protien first, then complex carbs and veggies and it should last 20-25 minutes and no more (if you eat for longer than 25 minutes food starts emptying out of your pouch so you are able to eat more per sitting). Exercise is also really important. You say you live a moderately active lifestyle, but does that include real exercise or just daily activity? If you don't have an exercise routine I highly suggest working in 20-30 minutes of exercise 3-5 times a week - be it walking, swimming, yoga, whatever - just some exercise will make a difference. I hope some of this helps and I wish you the best!
