Eatin' Good in the 20's Neighborhood...

Where is everybody?  This board has been SLOW  for the past 3-4 days, even slower than usual.  Drink some coffee, get up, get moving and POST.  Is it something I said?  Do I really smell that bad?  Hopefully we get some action soon! So how was your food day today?  Are you pre-op and dieting or going through the famous "last supper syndrome"?  Are you newly post-op and singing the liquid diet blues?  Are you further out and struggling to stay on the wagon or are you acing it every day?  Let's hear about it! I'm still in recovery mode from last Friday so food and I are not really friends, but I did manage to get more calories than yesterday. 10:00 (late start) - 3 oz yogurt w/ 1 oz blueberries stirred in (pain, pressure - had to drain like my doc told me to) Got ambitious because I was high on pain meds and decided to take my old lady pomeranian (her name is Delilah and she will be 13 in December - she is blind, has arthritis but is the best cuddle buddy I could ever have asked for) for a walk down to the gas station to get some exercise, a cup of coffee for me and a beef stick for her.  Turns out neither one of us was up to it so we got there (all 5 blocks away), both of us pooped out and hurting, and had to have my mom come take us back home.  But at least I got my coffee and Delilah got her beef stick. We cuddled up on the couch and took a nap when we got home. 11:30 - 12 oz hazelnut coffee w/ 8 oz steamed skim milk stirred in (plus miralax) 24 oz water 3:00 - 1 square of thin crust cheese pizza (had lots of pain and pressure like I have been having after eating this and ended up having to drain my old stomach with my tube as per my doc's orders to get relief - this is gross but I ended up draining almost 2 cups of fluid) 24 oz water 5:00 - 2 oz cottage cheese and 2 whole wheat crackers (same thing, pain and pressure so I ended up draining a good cup and a half of fluid) 10 oz skim milk 6:30 - 1/2 a pork kabob (pork loin marinated in a zesty garlic marinade grilled on a kabob skewer with chunks of green, yellow and red peppers, mushrooms, onions and zuccini - to steal a phrase from Rachel Ray YUMMO! - though I'm sitting here draining because food hurts me, but at least it was good) And fitday.com say....653 calories (I'm still lower than mty 1400 ideal so I'll probably have something else before bed - I'm thinking more yogurt or cottage cheese), 63 carbs and 64 protien.  I could use some more water too while I'm thinking about it since I lose so much fluid every time I drain.  So what are you eating?  Come on and tell me!

I think this is a great post to have in the 20's room, the people in the main forum drive me nuts-half of them are not honest, beat themselves up, or are just simply getting by on not much more than the ever popular FAGE! Ugh! Not this big girl!  Today was not the greastest, but it is what it is! Breakfast: 1 slice of monkey pie... okay, okay-allow me to splain'! We cooked out with fam all weekend and today consists of leftovers! This monkey pie is basically fruit pizza witha  brownie crust, cream chs frosting, strawberries, bananas, and pineapple...ummmm!  Skipped lunch, because I had the monkey at like 11am! Snack: Blueberry Yogurt Nature Valley bar Dinner: 1/2 chs burger and bun, little bit of pasta salad and little big of cheesy potatos (great concoction with corn flakes baked on top!)  Snack: popcorn

Thanks for participating!  I appreciate you chiming in - yeah, I imagine there is some dishonesty about daily intake, but it doesn't hurt anyone but the poster.  And I actually like fage, you should try it sometime (I like it with fresh fruit and kashi cereal on top - yum).   Your monkey pie sounds awesome, probably a little high in sugar for an everyday thing but all that fruit makes it still a good splurge for once in a while.  Nature Valley makes some great granola bars, I haven't tried their blueberry though - is it high in sugar?  I dump easily so I have to watch stuff like that.  My only feedback is - where is the protien?  You look like you're doing good except lacking in the protien department.   I appreciate you participating - I hope to see you respond again tomorrow!

Well, I hope I dont look like a horribly bad person after I post what I eat in a day. My surgery is in 5 weeks from tomorrow (YAY) 7:30AM - Protein Shake, Banana and an Orange, daily vitamin, and alergy medication 1:00PM - Another Protein Shake and Zuchinni Bread about 4oz (4 mini muffins) they are homemade. 6:00PM - 2 Taco Bell Tacos (on WW they are 4 points each) 8:00PM - Snack 1cup Popcorn and 1oz Pretzels. Total water for the day I'm on my 6th sippy cup of water, and they each hold 10oz. so as soon as I'm done with this it will be 60 oz.

Amanda - just so you know, what you eat is not what determines if you are a good person or bad person.  There is no judging here on this thread, it is just supposed to be sharing and helpful feedback so never worry about looking like a "bad" person based on food choices. And really, your choices look FINE to me.  I am impressed you're doing protien shakes already (I HATE protein shakes so I never really got into them pre-o*****w) they will really help you get some weight off pre-op and get in the mind set for surgery.  Fruits, some zuchini bread, tacos, a little bit of popcorn and pretzels - all fine choices.  I get a taco bell hardshell taco occasionally (I can just about eat one per feeding and I'm satisfied).  You're doing great!  You should be proud!

Thanks Amy, I guess I am still a little paranoid about the fact that I can still eat technically "anything". I found a protein shake that I REALLY like, so I have been getting in the habbit of drinking them as often as I can.  I enjoy Taco Bell's hardshell tacos, the taco bell by my house makes them really good they are almost never really oily.  I need to get to the gym so that I can weigh myself and make sure that I am still on track (I hate not having a scale at the house that will weigh me).  I have been swimming in our apartment complex pool lately, as my knee has been killing me, so I have not been going to the gym.

yay amy for keeping on this! Yesterday was a MUCH better day for me. I didn't feel like eatting but knew i had to! Food has been fine for me until now. A lot of people are disgusted with food earlier on and i am now at 5 month spost op. It's weird and i'm all backwards! ANyways here it goes.  B- 3/4 of SB diet protein bar, chocolate peanut butter (15 p) and vitamin S- 1.5 oz of peppered beef jerky (22p) L- 3 oz of lemon pepper baked chicken(21p)  and 1/2 cup of salad with cheese(6) and SF balsamic dressing D- 3 oz of baked chicken (21p) S- 8 oz of V8 fruit fusion peach mango juice all in all i had 85 grams of protein and i'm guessing about 700-800 calories.  Oh and i drank 66 ounces of water and the 8 of juice! have a a good daay everyone!

Hey I'm glad you like it!  So I'll keep it up.  Your diet is looking good (except for the SB diet bar - blech - but whatever floats your boat and helps you get your protien works for me )

Pre-op diet all the way . . . (Only appropriate smiley I could find) Wow, So In between chugging a ****ton'o-water, I've been drinking Myoplex (disgusting) and Muscle Milk (not bad) for protein. I made this awesome soup that is actually pretty good, its just Zucchini(sp?), Squash, Broccoli, LOTS of Spinach, mushrooms and garlic - You just pop that in a pot, with a can of tomato paste, a bottle of spicy v8 juice, and some diced tomato.  (45 mins, you got a nummy- good for you - soup) *Had to ask the surgerons office if that was cool, and they said as long as I wasn't using bread or anything of that nature, it's all good.) Meh, been doing laps for excersize a good hour in our pool, and every other day I am going to go jogging for  30-45 minutes. Surgery is on the 29th, so I am trying to shrink my liver (and my fat ass) as much as possible before I go under the knife. macktastic.j
