Because we are younger (You know 20 somethings)  Does our skin bounce back at all, or is EVERYONE having WLS destined to Plastic Surgery after?  Any help is most appreciated!

We have a BETTER chance of having our skin bounce back, but we're not insured for it.

I have only lost about 30 pounds so far and I can already tell I am going to need Plastics, at least a tummy tuck.

Just to let you know, you should ask someone 1-2 years out that is about our age. It takes our skin 1-2 years to recover from the sudden lose.

I have a large amount of excess skin on my abdomen and the beginnings of some bat wings.  I have had a baby though.  Im 27.  I am going to have another child first before I go and do plastics. No sense in getting it done then stretching it back out again.  That way I can be a hott momma of 2 when its all over!!!  :-) I plan on getting the "girls" perked back up again too. They have moved way too far south for my liking! Good luck!!  Heather 311/194/150

Howdy Lauren, I am close to 2 years post-op and the further along I get the more my skin has re-bounded.  In the intitial quick weightloss phase (for me the first 12-14 months) I had a pretty bad hanging apron (abdominal skin), sacks of excess skin on my thighs and bat wings.  While I still have bat wings to a lesser degree they are not nearly as bad as they used to be and my abdominal skin is slowly creeping back to where it belongs (it is taking longer for my thighs to catch up).  I probably won't be wearing a bikini anytime soon (sorry guys) but the skin is definately easier to live with than the extra weight.  One day if I am rich and have some time on my hands I could go for a tummy tuck, thigh/breast lift and some work on my upper arms but until then I am content with my body. Our age is a big help with skin, some ofther things you can do to improve your chances of having good skin are - get your protien as best you can consistently (normally 60-70 grams daily), make sure you stay hydrated (at least 64 oz of clear, uncaffinated liquid every day), take your vitamins daily (multivitamin, normally some form of B12, calcium, and iron and add biotin which is specifially for hair, skin and nail health), exercise (this will not firm up your skin, however it WILL firm up the flesh under your skin so your skin will be more filled out and less saggy) and use lotion (not even necessarily those "firming" lotions that cost an arm and a leg, but try something that has shea coco butter in it to keep your skin moisturized which will also help keep it healthy).   You might still end up wanting plastic surgery, but please know you can be perfectly beautiful with some extra skin and dealing with extra skin is much easier than dealing with all the excess weight.  I hope this helps!
