Drinking and WLS

Hey everyone. I don't drink alot, but I do like to ahve a mixed drink when i go out wiht friends. I have been told that after WLS we are not supposed to drink. I just want to know what you guys who have had the surgery do when you go out with friends.  Is anyone still able to drink?

This is a very common questio on OH...The answer is that you need to discuss it with your surgeon because they all have different guidelines. The bottomline is that you will need to wait a while until they tell you it is OK and undersand that it will likely effect you much faster and after only one drink. The sugar in the alchohol and or the mix could cause dumping syndrome, so you have to watch out for t hat too. You also need to be careful of transfer addiction....If you look back at some of the previous threads in this and other forums you can get even more complete information...
