HELP! I need breakfast IDEAS!
I'm three months post-op and have transitioned off of the soft-foods only diet, to now include just about everything I was allowed to eat before surgery, just in smaller amounts, and always no more then 5 g of sugar or fat.
I have been eating the same things for breakfast just about everyday. I usually start with a cup of coffee and then thirty minutes to an hour later I eat one of the folowing three breakfasts:
1) A packet of instant oatmeal with one packet of Splenda sweetner, one squirt of SF maple syrup, a splash of milk, and a scoop of Any-Whey unflavored protein powder (17g of protein) I add enough water to make it "mushy" stir and then nuke it for 30 seconds and stir it again.
2) One egg, usually scrambled, prepared in a skillet using non-stick spray instead of butter or shortening, with some low-carb ketchup on the side, sometimes some low-fat cheese, and a piece of whole weat toast with a little bit of light margarine.
3) A small bowl of Weigh****chers Fiber N' Flakes cereal and a little bit of skim milk.
I need some more ideas! What are you guys eating for breakfast everyday? What are your Go-To options?
I wish I could help you more but I just am not a big breakfast person. I usually have a cup of coffee and a banana. If I feel like cooking then I usually have those vegi scrambles from morning star and add the vegi sausage I do that on morning when my husband is home. Good luck on finding some recipes, I think the weigh****chers web site has some good ones. I usually get my dinner ideas on there
Hey Mikey!!!
For breakfast if I have time I will cook myself an over easy egg or scramble an egg. I might have a bananna or an Adkins breakfast bar the almond cranberry flavor which is yummyyyy! Or I might have some cottage cheese. I always drink a protein shake in the morning. I am selective with my food and do not care for it much these days.
Have a good one!
South Beach has this great breakfast burrito....its scrambled eggs in a tortilla....it is really good and had 19-20 grams of protein in it....i do alot of cottage cheese and lite fruit....a slice of ww toast with peanut butter....what else....iced coffee with skim and splenda....sometimes cereal w/ skim....hopes this helps
I love Fiber One bars... may not work for you this early out since they are lower in protein but higher in fiber... I use to eat the South Beach HiProtein Cereal Bar...
Yogurt with a little granola in it
Cottage cheese w/fruit

I get carbwise yogurt and stir in kashi go-lean cereals for texture and sometimes I stir in fresh fruits (like strawberries, peaches or pineapple).
When I want something not sweet I do mini Mexican omlettes with ground chicken (beef if you like red meats - I still have some trouble with red meats so I avoid beef), sauteed onion and green pepper slices, topped with shredded cheese and a little bit of sour cream and salsa. I use egg beaters instead of real eggs or I just use egg whites because regular eggs give me issues still.
There are also days I just get some coffee, steamed milk and cappuccino or chocolate protien powder and I am good to go.
