The Main Board and You

Does being in our 20's mean we have to be snot-nosed little brats who can't learn from people with experience? I certianally hope not.  And another thing - how far out are you people that you think you know better than someone who is 1 - 2 - 3 years out?  I am almost 2 years out and I know there are people who know more than I do.  I LAUGH OUT LOUD when I read someone who is 3 months out telling ME how to live life post-op and thinking that deviating from their surgeon's guidelines now and then won't hurt them eventually  - don't think you know it all or you are smarter than those with experience.  My experience has taught me that my surgeon and my nutritionist know best and when I am non-compliant with what they say I am only hurting myself (and my chance at being a long term success).  Be open to LEARN new things and take some advice with a grain of salt.  And have enough common sense to listen when wisdom and experience are talking.  Maybe it is because I hang out mostly on the Main Board (it moves faster and that is where I have been posting and reading since I came to OH 3 years ago) but sometimes I get a little frustrated at the attitude toward the wonderful people on the main board.  They get a little crabby and have their little arguments every now and then, but they really are genuinely nice people and more important than that they know their **** AND they have supported me through the ups and downs of life after WLS (and will support you too if you post there).  So you are talking about my FAMILY and dear friends when you call them bi#ches and talk about them in derogatory terms - heck you might as well be talking about ME when you say those things and I just won't stand for it. So when you ask if it is good for you to start drinking alcohol post-op and a GROWN UP tells you it is a bad idea (the same way this 21 year old will tell you it is a bad idea because I KNOW BETTER) take it like a grown up even if you disagree.   So now I am one of the Main Board biotches  but I hope you might have heard a little of what I said.  I'm trying to hang out more around here, so please don't hate me because I'm not going away.  I want to help - and I feel like the best way to help at this point is to try to get people to LISTEN to the wealth of information that is already avaliable to them.  Don't be afraid to post on the Main Board - just be prepared to be adult about it.

Some one woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning...

Once upon a time there was a brilliant man named ****ro who said "Suum Cuique" - To each his own.

Although you may not agree with some of these peoples opinions of the main board cronies, they are entitled to their opinions, just as you are, and are entitled to voice them freely.

Perhaps they've only had bad experiences with the main board.  Perhaps they're too fond of this board to venture to the main board.  Perhaps they're too afraid of running into overly emotional, childishly defensive, ignorant morons, such as yourself.

Regardless, just as you voiced your opinion, they're allowed to voice theirs.

To each his own.

Good luck. No...never mind.  You are wrong and I am flat out galled that you call the people on the main board cronies.  Grow up.

Thanks for pointing that out - I am SO sorry to have misunderstood your meaning.  I am so pleased you know how to use a dictionary (or copy and paste from one of the many helpful online dictionary websites) and can correct with grace and the best of intentions someone who gets it wrong out of the goodness of your heart.  Silly me.  Thank you for proving me SO wrong in what I said about some of the people who post here and what I took to be sarcastic and out of place comments about people they really know nothing about.  The maturity and elegance in your tactful and thoughtful response to my obviously out of place and ignorant post just goes to show how truly wrong I was.  You are a shining example of all that is good about the 20's board.  Again, so sorry to have misunderstood you and I apologize for the time it must have taken to correct one as ignorant as I.

if you want my answer to this please refer to my post in which I posted to your post! again every one is entitltled to their opinion that is why they are opinions and every one one the main board are not all *****es just some of them in which every post is a snotty comment or some one crying about spam! OMG not spam! WTF!? any way I post on the main board all the time and will continue to do so! SO again not every one is a ***** and yes we all have our moments! And some people need honesty even when its mean. but if you post stupid comments your going to get whats comming to you, So any way Why are you trying to start something? Quit being so hateful! Also I do not recall any one saying anything about people being 3months post op and knowing more then any of them? SO WTF again?? I talk to my mother in law alot who is 11years post op when I need a sincere answer! and 11yrs post op is more then 3yrs post op!  Or I write on the main board. So maybe you should read through things more before you post!  Thanks  Jamie Jamie

I don't really see where I was being hateful.  I am not sure exactly why encouraging people to re-think their attitude about the posters on the Main Board is causing such animosity.  This was the result of spending a couple hours reading and re-reading what has been posted on this forum for the past 8-10 pages and on almost every page there were several examples of uncalled for and to borrow your word, "hateful" generalizations made about particularly the women from the main board.  I wasn't trying to start something - honestly that was not my intention.  And if you don't mind me saying so, I don't know where anyone gets off saying the Main Board is filled with drama - just look at how folks have responded to this.  It is obviously not safe to have a contrary opinion around here - next time I want to post something I will make sure it fits the mold of the 20's board.

So your saying the people who built computers 20yrs ago know more about computers then the people who build them today? I am not even going to say any more, but you know that people who will get this surgery 5yrs from now may know more then me cause every year the surgery gets more high tech and surgeons are learning more and more about it, and making many advances in surgery! So I may not want to hear anything from people who have had surgery 5 yrs ago! lol! That is just an example of how you are ignorant! And dont worry I do value others experiences and support and advice I am just making a point!  Jamie  cheers!
