Lapband Approved

I got my approval in the mail today. My dad opened the mail since the insurance is in his name. He very camly said "Nicole, I think this is for you." I took it from him and knew before I read it!!! I am so happy that now we can move forward. It has only taken 9 days since Dr. Lords office sent the paperwork to United for review!!! Thanks to all of you for encouragement this board has truly been a Godsend.

Congrats!  I am new to the boards and hope to be in your position soon.  I also have "only" a BMI of about 41 and am concerned about insurance approval.  I have no co-morbidities now- my goal is to have the surgery while I'm young to avoid reaching that point!  Anyone think the insurance company is likely to see that as a good investment?

Congrats on being approved!! YAYA  Thats got to be so exciting.  So have you got a date yet??? And Elanatove, welcome to the board.  Insurance is pretty much an individual thing....  It depends on your case the the type of Insurance you have.  The rule of thumb though is, a BMI of 40 or more qualifies you for the surgery, without co morbitites,  And 35-39 you must have 2 co morb....
