introducing me
Hi, I just found this board and wanted to say hi to everyone, although I'm getting horribly close to 30, maybe I should post on the other one??
Anyways, I started this journey because the beginning of last summer I saw the scale say 310. I knew it was time for a change. There's a lot of diabetes in my family and somehow I had missed getting it and did not want it. And I have been "heavy" pretty much my entire life - actually I've never really had a life. I've always had a lot self-esteem issues and am pretty much a recluse. I only would leave the house for school or work, even in college, I just stayed in my dorm room all the time.
Now I'm still working on that. I go to the YMCA and work out. I try to go every day, but it doesn't always happen, depends on my work schedule. I walk 4 miles/2 hours around our local park, or 2 miles on the treadmill. I ride the exercise bike for about 15-20 minutes, as long as my knees and hips can take it. I was doing step aerobics but had to quit cuz I really hurt my knee. I might go back after I get some extra weight off. I swim when I can, about 10 laps. I horseback ride and am learning to scuba dive.
My weight loss has been kind of slow. I was 250 on April 16, the day of my surgery. I'm now 228.7 But I think maybe that I'm gaining muscle and that could be the reason why. I try to get all my protein and fluids in and I take all my supplements.
Alright, that's enough for now :-). Take care everybody and have a great week.
