Poor Trust fund Princess...

It really isn't all that glamorous...

"I'm a 26-year-old 320lb. female.  I need to provide to my Trust Officer that I NEED to have WLS."

I really need some help!  I need to write a letter which will be presented to a trust committee, who will then decide if I NEED a $20,000.00 operation to better my health.

The terms of the trust are for Health and Education purposes ONLY!  I have asked 3 Dr.'s to write a letter of recommendation.  And I have to write a letter myself expressing to the committee the necessity for WLS.  Please help if you have any suggestions or advice for me...  Has anyone here gone through this as well???

mystory:

I first went to a WLS seminar in 12/06.  I was told by the Clinic I attended that WLS was a covered benefit on my Insurance policy 80/20, but the insurance wanted me to do a six month diet program with a nutritionist.  So I did and told everyone I knew, about what was going to happen to me the following summer.  And now 2 weeks ago I find out I have NO WLS COVERAGE!!! The Dr. Office called me and told me that they were provided incorrect insurance coverage information.  I have been going to see the nut. for 4 months and been preparing myself mentally and physically for this... eeeggghhh!!!!!  However, I do have my Health/Education Trust fund to help me stay health (or so I hope)...  So Please... any advice would make me feel better.

I guess my first thing would be to apeal the insurance company and find out what the heck was going on that you had it and now you don't. If you do not get an approval from your appeals and you appeal to an out side source and still do not get approval then i would write a letter....I know it is frustrating to wait...trust me this is almost 3 years for me, but 20000, trust fund or not is a heck of alot of money.  That being said, I wrote a letter as a requirment of my insurance that basically told them what i have tried in the past, my current health struggles, and my level of commitment to the surgery. Good Luck  Colleen  PS I think somewhere on here they have sample letters for insuance ...look through the site and see if any of those fit!

I would call the insurance yourself first as stated above... find out what the real story is. If you decide to go with the trust... approach it like you would the insurance company... send them the same information, everything youve done over the past months... the Dr, the psych, the NUT... write your letter... Im guessing the trust board isnt made up of Drs so I have no clue who they would even be qualified to review!
