Okay so on the day of surgery I weighed 279.5, that was May 15th. I had a follow up with the surgeon 8 days later on May 23rd and weighed 257. That's a 22.5lbs loss. Well I didn't have a scale at home so I had my b/f go out and get me one and it says 270, and it can't be wrong cause it says he weighs 140 which is correct. Thats a 10+lbs gain in only 5 days..I dont know what to do, I feel so horribly crushed. I haven't eaten over 700 calories and I am getting in my protein how could I have gained SOOO much SOOOO quickly????? God help me! What am I doing wrong. What have I done to myself...........

I'm pre-op, so I can't help much.  Post this on the RNY board and you'll get lots of feedback.  Good luck to you!  It could be any number of things making the scale go wacko.

I would maybe try a different scale and see what it says. You should pick one weigh day and weigh in the morning... you could always swing by your Drs office and reweigh there to see what it says.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!

First of all... breath... it is going to be okay.   Have you been going potty regurly?  you said you are getting in all your protien, are you getting in all your water?  Water retention can make you gain that much weight.   You need to drink water to lose water.   Also, don't forget...you had major surgery... your body is going to need time to heal and adjust... this may mean a slight gain, but trust me... you will see it fall off.   Please don't worry.  Call your Dr.  see what they have to say.  But honestly... it is normal to lose some days and gain others.  I agree with the suggestion above... weigh yourself one day a week.  Same day same time every week.   and stay off the rest of the time ... you will just drive yourself nuts.
