Hello nmanda, Well first off I want to say welcome, and congratualtions on your desicion on getting WLS. I had surgery 19 months ago, and I do have some extra skin, honestly, I obess over it but I am told by everyone that it is not bad. It really depends on how much elasticsity your skin has, usually where you have a lot of stretch marks it has lost it, but being young your skin should not be that bad. Hope this was somewhat of a help to you. If you have any other questions feel free to email me at [email protected] Best Regards Jessica

Hey, welcome to the board. It is nice to find someone on here who is also getting the lapband. My surgery date is 5/28, so I cant help with the skin question yet but good luck with everything!!

Welcome to the board :) Excess skin... do most of us have a "problem" with it... well its not really a problem... it more comes down to what you can or cannot live with. Will you have areas you are not happy with - definately... there will be some loose skin, wrinkly skin, jiggly spots... some of us "snap back" a little better than others. Being younger I found that you are more likely to be unhappy then somebody who is older... there are people out there who would be thrilled to have my post-op body... Im just not one of them :) I am young and single and have been overweight since middle school... I just want to look and feel like a "normal" person.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

I had lap band 3 months ago.  Good luck on your surgery! I am afraid of saggy skin too after I'm at goal.  i'm single too and i feel like who wants to date an obese person and once I'm at my goal I'll feel like how can I date someone and show him my body with stretched out saggy skin?  I'm all about plastic surgery and a total body lift(throw in a boob job with that) if I need it in the end.  Heck, we're trying this hard to be thin and healthy....of course we'll be vain too and want our bodies to look good.  Why not? we've struggled for years. I've been overweight since around 3-4th grade.  I don't know what it's like to wear normal size clothes and I cannot wait!  I cannot wait to wear form fitting clothes.  So far my doc says my skin is healthy and tolerating the weight loss well...but we may need to do some nips and tucks!
