Exercise Question
Alright I have some questions regarding exercising. First of all I am 5 weeks post op and recently joined a gym by my house. The past 3 days I have been going to the gym and walking 2 miles on the treadmill which takes me about 40 minutes. I also get in about 85 grams of protein shakes and I have a couple of ounces of Tuna mixed with mayo and mustard and I have about a half of a string cheese a day. Before I go to the gym I take a couple of drinks of orange juice for some sugar. My calorie intake lets say is about 350-400.
Questions:
1. If I am buring 150 calories should I increase my protein?
2. Should I eat something before exercising or should I drink my protein?
3. If I go the the gym 5 times a week will I gain weight and if I do what do I do?
4. Is going to the gym 5 times a week to much?
5. What do you guys/girls do when working out at a gym.
Any information will be helpful!
Thanks!

anything you burn at the gym is good. I don't think you should eat anything extra. Just opinion cause i also work out. 'But i do reccomend drinkiong more. I play a lot of basketball now, andf the first night i played i barely sweated sp? I knew that wasn't good so now every time i go i drink ay least 32 oz everytime i go. so make sure you have enough fluids to repacle what you are swaeting out. Good luck and keep up the good work, looking good!
462/250/200!!! almost there!!
1. typically you dont need to increase protein but check with your NUT about your carbs... if you are working out 5 times a week you should be getting a decent amount of carbs
2. they say you should have something small and hour to hour and a half before working out (from workout info Ive read on the net.. nothing surgery related) I would do a protein snack (a shake if you want) that has a few carbs.
3. you shouldnt see a weight gain but may see a slow down at the scale at first if you are doing weight training - this is fine because if you are building muscle that is good.. you will be burning more calories and the scale will start moving again - take your inches you will notice a change there but possibly not the scale, very commin
4 no its not... 5-6 days is perfect. my plan is 3 days cardio, 3 days weight training, 1 day of rest
5 I am 9 months out and just got a trainer... now that I am over 100lbs lighter than I use to be I felt I didnt know how to work out anymore. Previously I was doing 3-6 days a week cardio everyday and doing light weight training 2-3 days a week... I printed out weight exercises from webmd and msn fitness... I would do a minumum of 30 mins cardio up to around 45... also would do yoga once a week. Now with the trainer I am doing cardio m-w-f and weights tu-th-s.
