Mentally

Im 25 and had LAP RNY on December 7th. I was in the hospital over a month due to a leak. Im just starting to get over that now. I am very happy with my weight loss I started at 355 and now im 275. I have another 80 pounds until goal.Its been 3 months and I still get very emotional about everything and remembering the hospital and how much pain I was in. Is this normal?

I don't think it is abnormal! You have been through a lot both mentally and physically and sometimes it may seem all too overwhelming. I would suggest staying positve, thinking of all the positive things that have happened since surgery like losing some pounds, think about how things are going to conintue to be positive in the future! I believe in positive thoughts equal positive feelings. Just stay with it and if ever seems to bad or sad don't be afraid to go to a professional for help! Lots of luck~ Holli

I think its completly normal... i havent had WLS yet but when i had my emergency c-section and developed a staff infection i was in the hospital over a month also... and it hit me hard mentally... i still think about how much pain i was in and how much it sucked... its awful to be in a hopsital for that longi know all too well what its like.... get someone to talk to i know i had very bad depression after the whole ordeal... its alot to deal with.... What you are experiencing is not uncommon. I had shoulder surgery about 5 years ago and to this day I had never been in as much pain as I was then. I also would never do it over again.  I had LAP RNY 3 weeks ago and was expecting the worst but came out great. So I was very fortunate. I also noticed that I get emotional. I think that might be the food part of it. I loved or still love food. It is a strange feeling but it happens. I also notice that people get on my nerves more. But I try to control that.
