complaint of the day!

Tomorrow is my birthday (woo hoo!) and yesterday I decided I was heading to the mall to buy a new outfit for the big day. Pre-op a trip to the mall meant parking at the door closest to Lane Bryant... heading there, shopping and heading back out (unless shoes or accessories were needed). Well, the only thing I can purchase at Lane Bryant now is jeans (sz 14) which I was super happy about at first. After going to a few stores I found that I no longer know how to shop for my post WLS body. I am too small for Lane Bryant and too big still for most of the "normal" stores. I went to forever 21 and was excited to find I fit in their large top... well only the cotton ones that would stretch. Everything else squished my "girls" like unbelieveable! Dont skinny girls have boobs? I mean SHEESH! It wasnt the best shopping trip... I was disappointed to see many stores size large (and not even carrying XLs!) looked like something a kid would wear... since size 12 is now the "average woman" where the heck are these people shopping?? I find myself still sticking to the same stores Ive always shopped at... just moved into the non-plus dept - Old Navy, Target, Dots. I am only 27 and want to dress my age.... its hard to shop in the trendy stores because everything is so small... and now with summer comming its all spaghetti straps, sleeveless etc... no way am I letting the chicken wings flap in the wind!! I did go to Lane Bryant the day before and bought new jeans... they had so much cute stuff in there! I wish there was a Lane Bryant for non-plus sizes!!! Good thing is I am more motivated now and ever to get to my goal weight so I can have an easier time shopping!!!

Try target.  They often have XL and even XXL (the jr dept runs really small) in their Juniors sections.  The often have really cute stuff and even spotlight an international designer each month.   All of their Jr Jeans/pants run 0-17, so there is often a good size selection.  As for your boobs....I have been wearing and XL since junior high in order to not squish mine.......the twins just need room.  Target can sometimes be touch and go....but keep your eyes peeled there and I bet you will find something.

I like New York & Co.  I'm in 16/18's in the bottoms and XL in their tops. They have trendy clothes for our age (I'm 26) fashionable but not too juvenile.  In the mall I go to alot the Lane Bryant and the NY and Co are  across from each other.  My best friend would go to NY&Co and I would go to Lane Bryant. It is soooo nice now for us to be able to shop together :-)  Also, they have really awesome sales (like EVERYTHING 1/2off..i hit one of those and got a nice pair of dressy khakis for $18).   I have a hard time dressing my new body too. I can't imagine how its going to be when I get down to a 12! Congrats.  Also I'm overwhelmed by the amount of clothes too choose from now. I was used to having only a very small selection in the plus size departments (if they existed). Now I get tired before I've browsed through all the choices.

Wow i totally understand where you are coming from.   I use to shop at Lane bryant and loved it,   I always had a hard time with their pants though,   by the time i got the size to fit my stomach,  the legs where HUGE.   But I would go broke buying their shirts....lol    Now almost 70lbs lighter I can wear a 14 and a Large shirt,   I love NY and CO too.   their shirts seem to actually be normal    a Large is actually Large and not for a 10yr old.   Suggestion........when your in between sizes in pants  try Juniors sizes.  My 14's got a little big and i was sick of always pulling them up,  so i got a juniors size 13 and they fit great.    The juniors shirts are still way too small,  I have big boobs as well. Good luck and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE START  245 CURRENT  177 GOAL   140

first off...happy birthday, a day late.  i too no longer fit into stuff from lane bryant, but am having a great deal of trouble find stuff at the "normal" stores.  i seem to find stuff at the gap, it is pretty true to size they also have xl and a 16 in jeans.  i also wonder where everyone finds their clothes since i seem to not be finding to much. well,  good luck  in ur search for non-plus size clothes.

AMEN! This is why I HATE HATE HATE shopping.  Before... I loved it. You went to Lane Bryant nad KNEW something was going to fit you. Now there are like amillion stores to chose from and in every store you are a different size. I often get frustrated and go home with nothing. I CANNOT find a pair of jeans that I like. One store I am a 16 one store an 18 one store a 14... and what is up with these low riders??? Dont they know my roll of skin will hang over that??? UGH! I soooo know what you are going through. In my defense my best friend who had WLS LOVES to shop so I make her go with me and pick things out.
