sometimes i feel alone
Well although i am sooooo excited and thankful to have had my surgery almost 4 months ago, i just feel like i have no one in my life that can relate to me. The support group here is too far away and Im a college student with a 2 yr old so its hard to get to. Is anyone from VA here, i would love to have someone close by to talk to and relate to and maybe build a friendship. I am new to this OH site and would in general like to talk people who share the surgery in common, I guess talking about it helps me stay on track
thanks
Hi Michelle. I'm in Georgia so I'm not close to you but I just wanted say I understand. It is hard for anyone who has not gone through this to truly understand the issues we deal with. My family and friends have been great but its not the same as having someone who's been there. My support group meetings are 75 miles from my house but I do try to go at least once a month.
My major support has been the boards here on OH. The main board is a bit too dramatic for my taste but I have found that my surgery date board (the may board) has been unbelievably comforting. The people there are dealing with many of the same issues at around the same time and the board stays pretty active.
I really don't know what to say but I wanted to lend some words of encouragement. If you want to email feel free to message me here!

That does have to be hard! I find going to the support groups and doing outside talks (I just did a health fair for the hospital I had surgery at) to be most helpful. I love talking to pre-ops and them getting excited about the weight Ive lost. All of us here on OH are here to help you as much as we can!!! The support group I go to has a phone list and you can put down if its ok for people to contact you... maybe try going to a group once and see if they have something like that so you can talk to people in your area?? Just an idea

Im a married 26 yr old with 2 puppies (my babies). we can trade e-mail if you would like to chat, or just want to vent. Im not sure how far williamsburg is, but i would love to have a friend as well who knows what Im going through as well as around my age.
