Hey everyone, I'm Katie, I'm 23, and I'm hoping to have RNY in March. I'm from Absecon, NJ, so if anyone's near there, let me know! Right now I'm concentrating on cutting some of the junk out of my diet so I won't have such a hard time once I have the surgery. Anyone have any recommendations for me?

Hi Katie! My surgery is one month away on Monday and I'm so nervous excited about it. At this point I too am trying to cut out the junk. I don't have a problem with chocolate, unless I'm PMSing (only time I'll eat it) so that one isn't hard. I eat a few sweets here and there but my big one is carbs. I've slowly been cutting back portions and preparing. Tried a couple of protein shakes before hand to see what I want to have on hand after surgery. I like the Unjury brand the best so far, not chalky at all! You'll really have to try it. You can order sample sizes from their website! I am also a diet pepsi junky and in the past two weeks I have slowly started cutting back and switching over to decaf iced tea. I always liked very weak tea so it is a little easier to have something I like that I can switch too! Did have a headache a few times from the caffiene withdrawal, but it will be so worth it to be completely off before surgery. Ya know, I've struggled with portions and what I eat my entire life but after getting my date and knowing what is in store for me and my new life ahead, it has all come together. I don't want to eat as much and get full faster just by making myself believe I don't need it. I've never been able to do that in my entire life. I'm nowhere near the proportions I will be after surgery, but it is helping. I've lost 2 pounds in a week. Just keep going and if soda is something you drink now, I'd really work hard on changing over to something else before surgery. It will make life so much better for you. Try Crystal Light if you don't like tea! Teresa
