AF question

Hi! My name is Heather and I had RNY on 11/17/2006. I was wondering if anyone else had a delay in getting their period after surgery? I havent had one since 11/28 and Im waiting for it to come so that I can start BC pills. Ive taken a preg test and its neg. so I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem. I wasnt really regular b4 my surgery, but in Oct & Nov it came on the 28th both months. I had lost about 20 lbs by then and I thought maybe I was finally going to be regular.. Now, its 41 days and nothing!!! anyone have any insight?? Could my system just be in shock? My hair has already started thinning. Thanks for your help!!

dont worry i didnt have a period for a long time after surgery. but when i finally did it was super painful, not to scare you or anything, lol! yeah i think our bodies are just freaking out because of the weight loss, i wouldnt worry, maybe mention it to your doctor though to get his view. I had a different issue... I was on depo at the time of surgery and a few weeks after I started spotting...I had been on depo for about 2 years and NEVER spotted. Also for the first 3 months post-op I got cramps once a month and HORRIBLE pms but no period. I switched to Ortho-Lo 5 months out and have been fine since Its very normal post-op to have issues... when you lose large amounts of weight your hormones are effected and the levels go crazy.

I was on depo for 4 years never had a period until 3 weeks post-op and my surgern said get use to it cause your gonna get them...sucks cause that was the only reason I took depo was to not get them!

Thank you ladies! Im glad to hear that its normal to be so irregular post op. I am just eager to get on the BCP because I ended up getting pregnant 1 month before surgery ( it ended up being a blighted ovum) but it was a huge suprise because I had been on fertility drugs for months before I started the WLS stuff and was unable to get pregnant. I just dont want it to happen again! THanks!!!
