I'M BAAAAACK!
Hello, all!
I just wanted to post a quick note, letting everyone know that I am home, recovering from my surgery!
I went in on Tuesday, 12/26, and had a "routine" (yay!) vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) and my gall bladder removed. Everything went well in the hospital, although Dr. Weber said that my liver was still pretty large - he had to do a biopsy of it, so we'll see what that says. My husband and his mother were in the room with me nearly 100% of the time, so I was never really lonely. THANK YOU to everyone for your 'in-hospital' tips!!
There are some things that I know could have gone better... or maybe I just wasn't prepared for! Taking-out the NG tube, for one... EW!
So, I've been home since Thursday the 28th. I haven't been able to sleep in my own bed, since my stomach staples just aren't ready - it's been the couch for me, and I hate it. I can't sleep!
Other than that, what? I'm working on my breathing, my coughing, and getting all my fluids in. I'm in the "pureed food" portion of the diet, so I'm sipping on some grilled chicken and vegetable soup, with added chicken and chicken broth, to make it thinner.
WHEW! Sorry it was such a long post! I'm so glad to be over with the surgery (
). Thank you again for all the support, tips, and encouragement! I hope everyone had a safe and joyous Holiday!
