I was in the process of having my surgery and my insurance company calls me and tells me that they no longer cover any kind of gastric bypass surgery?! When I called back in June, the lady returned my call and said that they do cover it if it is medically necessary? Who do I believe? The first call back or the second? Or should I have my doctor check into it for me?

dont sit back and wonder who to believe -- get on it, call the insurance company back -- call your doctors office and ask them to clarify w/ your insurance company whether they do or dont cover the surgery... the more you wait the more time you allow for something to get in the way!

Your HR department should be able to provide you a benefits book that outlines your benefits - bariatric surgeries are usually under the "not covered" section and will say "only if medically necessary" if covered by your insurance. If your HR cannot provide one call your insurance back and ask one be sent to you so you have it in writing.
