hey guys, I am 5 days post op! I am doing great!! No compleciation, no real pain just some gas! ugh... I told Kimberley (my oH angel) I dont even think he did the surgery... maybe he justt poked a few holes in me. Thats how good I feel... thank the Lord above! anyway, here is my question. I have noooo problem getting all the protein in what so ever and all my liquids go down fine too. My first day on full liquids I got 80 grams in!! I read about people that really struggle to get it in. Although, I know this is a GREAT thing I cant help but to feel worried that I will be able to eat to much when I get to that stage. I think maybe he made m y pouch to big. I feel like I am the ONLY one that can get all the protein in the week after surgery. Anyway, anyone out there like me? Maris

Everybody is different... I felt the same way too - like the surgeon never did the surgery. I didnt struggle too much with getting my protein and water in. I went back to work 4 days after surgery so my concentration was split between work and sip sip sipping. I wouldnt be worried... wait until you move onto soft foods - you will see a HUGE difference in what you can eat. Anything with any weight to it will effect you so much different than liquids. I am now a little over 4 months out... I know people at this stage who still have problems drinking... I can pretty much chug-a-lug and not have a problem. I dont have to worry about how much I drink at a time.... I still keep track of my food of course!!!

Hey girlie! Congragulations on your surgery!! When I was about a week and a half post op I was drinking a protein drink. I wasn't thinking about it and before I knew it...it was gone. 12 ounces gone in about 5 minutes. When I finally realized what I did I was so scared and thought my stomach was gonna explode. LoL...it was kinda funny how scared I got but anyways I got on here and did some research on why I was able to drink so much. I've found that there are some people that liquids just go right through. Who knew? When I started on foods I found I was full with like two bites. Theres no way I can eat over 3 ounces now. But I sure can drink my liquids so don't worry too much about it. Take it easy and have a great journey!!!

Maris, I too thought at first maybe he didn't make my tummy small enough. I was able to drink soooo much, "to begin with". It didn't take long for me to realize that I did have a tiny "egg" size stomach. I can remember thinking a month or so out..."why is it so hard for me to drink all of my water, when it was so easy that first week out"...crazy yes, I know! I'm a little over five months out now, and finally the water is not a problem anymore, although i do have to keep that bottle in my hand to make sure i get it all in. Just wait until you get to move up in your diet phase and you will see, that your stomach will only beable to handle a few bites of this or that!! hugs, nora

Hi Maris, My name is kristen, I had the surgery Aug 7th... anyway, he didn't make your pouch to big! He would have known it when he did the xrays and leak tests in the days following... Anyway, I really thought that as well, but trust me that changes once you can start eating lol ... I was also able to get in all my liquids, now that I am eating as well as drinking I REALLY REALLY STRUGGLE to get in everything. In fact I suck at it I ALWAYS miss a vitamin or a few ounces of water , because you cant drink 15 min before or an hour afterwords you really become focused on eating and the focus gets shifted .. just stay focused! GOOD LUCK SWEETY , and dont freak out ... i have been idle for about 2 weeks with my wl and have been freaking out thinking i will be the only one who stays obese, but reality will set in soon, for both of us lol .. god bless! and congrats!
