ANYONE who knows me...

...or feels strongly about this issue.... I am having a hard time with approval from my medical team because I am the youngest person EVER in the program (19 going on 40) and they want to be perfectly sure that I can handle the huge responsibility and comittment that surgery requires. Im looking for either personal references to write a short note or paragraph about me as an individual (and my amazing amount of maturity and understanding of WLS) or of people's personal opinions about age and WLS, if they agree that it doesnt matter how old you are, it matters where you are mentally in your life. Any help would be amazing because I plan on submitting these responses to my medical team on November 22nd. I am re-posting this to other boards so if you see this again, sorry! haha Thanks guys. Have you tried maybe finding another surgeons office? I don't really understand how they would come to the conclusion that you can't handle the surgery. Did your therapist say anything to you during your psych evaluation about your capacity to understand the responsibility? There are people younger than you are that have had gastric bypass.

I had mine at 19, I don't know if it will help but would someone else's story influence them at all. If you know you need this then that's it, and it shouldn't be such an issue. I know 16 year olds that had it done because if they didn't they would have died. Maybe we should remind mr MD of the oath he took when he became a doctor?

I actually finally spoke to the surgeon and he is pulling for me because he said the age limit is set to 18 for a reason and that I completely qualify..its other doctors in the program who I recently found out apparently dont agree with WLS...so why work in a program for that? Makes no sense. But Im a fighter
