HEADACHES?
hey hun, i really have no idea because im not post-op but i do have a guess lol... i think that maybe you wont get headaches after surgery because yes you are eating less but you are eating more often in order to get all your protiens and vitamins in for the day, so unless its food triggered i dont think youd have a headache from not eating. hmm, i wonder if im right...but your guess is as good as mine! maybe someone more educated will fill us both in! good luck and FEEL BETTER!
Hi....ya know I wondered the same thing before I had my surgery. I used to get really really bad headaches when I wouldn't eat....but I think the previous poster is right. Our stomachs are so much smaller...and we constantly have to eat or drink....we really don't have time to be hungry.....I only got the headaches when I was physically hungry....and I haven't been physically hungry yet at all. Just a little case of head hunger but that wasn't what caused my headaches in the first place. Hope this makes sense and good luck!
You could be getting headaches from a few things.... headaches can be caused by dehydration. Headaches can be a "withdrawl" symptom from sugar or caffeine. During the 2 weeks liquid pre-op I had a few headaches but by the end they were gone... one you "detox" your body it will no longer react to withdrawls from sugar/caffeine. If it is dehydration drinking all those fluids will help
Another possibility is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). I've struggled with hypoglycemia most of my life. If you feel shaky or irritable or light-headed with your headache that might be the problem.
The first 6 weeks post-surgery were very hard for me with hypoglycemia, it was very severe every morning and took me a few hours to get through it. Once I was able to eat fairly normal food the problem went away and I'm now back to my normal patterns with it. My surgeon has a very conservative dietary plan for post-op, it's 2 weeks clear liquid, 2 weeks full liquid, 2 weeks pureed, 2 weeks soft, then ease into normal food ((plus protein drink at all stages in the first two months, you can switch to protein bars after the two month mark if you can handle it and prefer it). I shortened those time frames by a little bit so that I was eating soft foods at 6 weeks out.
