When to pick a new Dr.
I have a question about how much patience and tolerence I should have with waiting for my doctors office to get there sh** together. I am the one that got all my records together including the testing that was required by the doctor and the insurance. I faxed it to themon july the 10th called 2 weeks later and they state they just received it. On the week of July 21 the coordinator left it for his office staff to fax since he was going to be out for 2 weeks. In the meantime I am calling the insurance and they are stating they have nothing. I send e-mail from before Aug 15-aug 22 with little response. Oh and during this time the office staff tell me not to call but to only email, the coordinator responds faster, he never responds to phone calls, because I tried for 3 weeks straight with questions and no answers. I finally get an e-mail and it states the insurance lost the paper work and that my records will be resubmitted. I send an email yesterday asking for the exact date that my records were sent again for approval for surgery. I get a response stating some calls will be made and it is as frustraing for them as it is for me. Never answering the question I asked but again blaming the insurance. This is the 6th of Sept. I have been fighting this thing for 2 months. I have spoken to people in my cooperation that had this surgery and they ALL stated they had no problems with the insurance and it literally only took about a week for approval. Can someone please lend some thought to this mess.
I think it's time to get tough with them. You need to get in their faces. Go to the office every day until they can give you proof of actually sending in your paperwork. You can ask them to either give you a fax transmission sheet or a certified mail receipt. Even though they told you not to call, call anyway. If being in their faces everyday doesn't work, go directly to the doctor and ask him what the hell is going on with his staff. You can also file a complaint directly with your insurance company against the doctor. The doctors have a certain level of service that they are supposed to uphold when they sign up to accept your insurance and if they are not meeting that standard, your insurance company needs to know about it.
Hope this helps,
Wendy
