Hi (again)
Hello everyone, I found this website a month or so back but was in the process of moving so I didnt really have time to "chat" Allow me to re-introduce myself. I'm April 24 y/o have 1 son who is almost 2 and we are trying for number 2 this fall. Right now I weight 230lbs. I have tried dieting, and excersing but what ever I loose I just gain right back so frustrating! After baby number 2 we will be done (I think). Afterwards I would like to have wls. I want to look into this early because I heard it takes a long time to get all your insurance and stuff approved. I am just tired of being large. I want to run after my kids with out feeling like I am going to pass out ! How long did it take for everyone to get approved, what steps do you have to take. I have no clue where to go with this. Also can you have children after wls. I know I said after # 2 we will be done but who knows if baby fever will hit again lol. I'm sorry if Ive been sort of rambling lol. I look forward to getting to know everyone April
Hey April...
Welcome to OH
I guess I should introduce myself...I'm Dana, just turned 25 and in the process of getting approved for surgery (just need final bloodwork and insurance approval). I am 5'4" and weigh 280 pounds. I have two boys....7 and 4.
In total it took me from June until now to get all my dietician, psych and bariatrician appointments out of the way. I have one more set of appointments (with all three) in a week and a half and I should find out what the verdict is. So from the informational meeting (June 8th I think****il probably mid-September to get approved and maybe another month or two for a date. That's just for my doctor and insurance though....your insurance may require a diet history or classes, don't hesitate to call them or ask someone else with the same insurance as your self on the board. They could probably answer that question much better than I could.
I know you can have children after WLS...there's actually a post-op pregnancy board and the woman there are very informative. Surgeons recommend anywhere from a year to two years after surgery to wait to have children. Mine recommends 18 months....I know I want to try for my daughter...lol.
Good luck!!
Dana
