Not getting full!! And ..
Hi everyone!
I am 16 days post op and I find that in general I am just not hungry. I eat because I know I have to. When I eat I do not find myself feeling more satisfied then if I were to not eat. I also find that if I chew and eat really slowly I can still consume a lot of food, but I never feel full. Just to note, I am still on a pureed/ soft foods diet. Has anyone had a simliar problem? Does this sound unusual?
My other question is what is the importance of the not drinking until 20- 30 minutes after drinking?? It is such a habbit to eat and drink, so I was wondering why this was important. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for breaking this habbit???
As always thank you to everyone!! I can't believe that I am finally on the loosing side!!
Feeling full - my nut said it can take a while before you feel full... some people can take 6+ months before they know it. Yes you can eat a lot if you keep eating slowly... you should keep meals to no more than 30mins - taking breaks between bites. This will keep you from overeating. My NUT said for the first 6 weeks I should measure all meals - they should be 3oz (1/4c)... this will help to keep from overeating.
Drinking - if you eat drink 30min before/after eating you will wash the food out of the pouch. If you wash the food out of the pouch you will feel hungrier sooner... you will also be able to eat more. Its not an easy habit to break - its just something you have to do. I am 7 weeks out - sometimes I will take a small sip after a meal if its something like pnut butter where it just sticks in your mouth and throat. If I go out to eat - I dont order a drink... if its not there I dont want it. At home I put my drink back into the fridge so its not sitting right there.
