Hello everyone. My name is April and I'm from Chipley Fl. Growing up I was always a very large child and im high school it just got worse. Now I am 24 married and have a 19 month old son. Pregnancy has also added dome unwated weight. I've always hated my weight but cant seem to do anything about it. I've been on a diet for a while and I havent seen any results. It's not like it's a fad diet either. I eat small healthy portions, drink tons of water and walk for 1-1 1/2 hours every evening. My mom tells me it's in my genes. On my fathers side of the family everyone including my aunts and female cousions are at least 5'9-6ft and weigh 250-300+ Me being only 5'7 and 230 I am considered the "smallest". Even though my husband tells me I look fine how I am, I am just not happy. I want to go to the beach without being embarrsed, run with my son and not have to stop and catch my breath every few minutes, I want new clothes and most of all I just want to be healthy. I had a friend have wls a few years ago and she looks great now. I am comming here to try talk about options I have and meet other woman around my age who have gone/are going throughthe same thing I am. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi April! My name is Jenn. I'm 20 and went through the whole weight issue too. I just recently had LAP RNY and am happy with my choice. I have had a few bumps in the road, but I'm 2 months out now and am doing great. I didn't have any huge health problems, but I was borderline high blood pressure and diabetes. There are several different types of procedures for weight loss. You just have to decide what is right for you. I hope you find the information you're looking for. If you have any questions you can email me anytime. I'm more than willing to help. Take care!

Hello April! I am new as well. I was wondering if you are going through the steps in getting the surgery. Have you seen the Dr yet? Have you applied with your insurance as well? I have my first meeting with Dr Lamar here in California on the first of August. Then I have to go to a nutrition class and then we submit my information to my insurance. I am exicted about this surgery but also nervous. I can relate to your post because I want to be healthy for my children as well.. -Monique

Hello and welcome. I was too always the large kid. In High school I was 244. And after I ballooned up to 273. Realized I couldnt live like this anymore. Pain everywhere. I tried all diets, but with my PCOS I couldnt lose weight. no matter what! So Thats when I decided on WLS. Best thing I ever did. I had it on 3/15/2006 ans I was 273 and as of yesterday I am 209. I feel so much better, and my pain is gone. No more back or leg pains. Truely is a blessing. And I feel great! Good luck with your journey. Feel free to email me anytime! [email protected] K~

Hey April... I'm Dana..welcome to the boards...I'm not really new or old here...been around for a few months but just REALLY starting my WLS "journey". I have my first official consult with my surgeon on August 8th (my second surgeon already...lol). Where are you with your consult/surgery date and all? I'm 24 also...and I have two sons...one is 7 and the other is 4. Love them to death but being pregnant with them really did a number on my body. Anyways...good luck with everything! Dana
