I decided that oral BC wasn't a sure enough bet for me, so I talked to my Gyno and we decided on Ortho-Evra, or The Patch. I love it. It's been 3 months and it's worked fine; I also adore the fact that I don't have to remember to take something daily. Hope this helps.
I posted in your other post on the main board. I got the Mirena IUD last Tuesday. While painful to have inserted, I now don't have to think about birth control for 5 years! My boyfriend and I will still use condoms because we are "babyphobic" right now but I am glad I don't really have to remember anything on my part. Getting ready for surgery is consuming most my brain right now anyway Hope that helps!

I get the depo-provera shot and have for a year and a half now I know people all freak out over the supposid "weight gain" but if you read the research if you are effected its a few pounds over a long period of time (i.e. 3-4lbs over a year) Also, new research has come out saying that when people show weight gain from *any* BC it could actucally be them just naturally gaining weight over time so they really cant say for sure if it was the birth control that caused the gain. Anyways, Cosmo had an article last month or one this month about BC - says if you switch allow 3 months to get an accurate idea of what it does to you. I am also worried about post-op pregnancy... for now am sticking with the depo - may move to the patch... the ring is just not for me. I havent had any problems with the depo - they say after 2 years your chance of osteoporsis increases so I am going to swtich... its also rough on the gums (so says my dentist) so you have to take extra special care of your teeth!! (I havent had any issues - he said just to make sure to keep on flossin'!!). I like the fact I only have to go once every three months for a shot... after getting my 2nd shot ever my period stopped completely (definately cannot complain about that!!). Also, when I was pre-op (was dieting and excerising) and got the shots I would lose a few pounds each time I got the shot (go figure!).
