Hey everyone. I am 20 years old and 8 days post-op and down 23 pounds. I have my post-op tomorrow at 8:45 in the morning. For all of those who have had surgery, does the skin on the stomach, arms, etc.? I was 265 going in and am now 242. Just wondering how everything will look in a year. Thanks!! Karlie

Hi Karlie, I havent actually had my surgery yet I am having it next wendsay the 14 of june. I would love to hear more about your experience since i will be doing that soon. But i have a 19 year old cousin who had RNY in Oct of 2005 and she has lost about 120 pounds and she is doing great. She has a little loose skin, but its not unliveable it does not look bad. So hope that helps some.

Hey there Karlie, I wish I had amazing news about the extra skin, but all I can say is I was 350 when I started. Had been over 260 for as long as I could remember. I've got a ton of extra skin that just won't seem to firm up. I've been told that I can hold out and hope that the skin does a little more tightening over the next year but I'm not that patient. I'm going to be having plastic surgery within the next six months, god willing. Faith 350/197/175

The skin issue is totally different for every body. Factors like how heavy you were/are, how long you've been overweight (how much the skin has been damaged) and good genes are all things that effect how you look. As for myself, I'm 8 months out and down 85 lbs. (97 lbs. from my highest) and the extra skin sagging around the upper under arms and tummy and inner thighs is there, but it's slowly getting absorbed. Esp. as I continue to build muscle mass. If I stepped up the work outs I bet it'd be almost gone. I'm sure I'll need some fine tuning but working out really does make a huge difference! The boobs are a totally diff. story however! No amount of praying is gonna make them perky again! They are old lady flat when out of a full-coverage bra. So a boob job is def. in my future if I want them semi-perky again (and as a D-cup since teen years, I never thought my boobs were perky until I experienced this and now look back on what I thought of as 'saggy boobs' before surgery and realize they were firmer and perkier). So there ya go.
