No weightloss. Scale says i'm gaining? and I can't get my protein in!
Ok all. I have not lost any weight this whole week. I don't know if my scale is broke or WHAT. But I got down to 273 and now i'm fluctuating between 275 and 278?!! I started out at 295. I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but it's a bad habit I acquired a month before surgery when I bought this new digital scale that tells you your BMI as well.
I haven't lost ANY weight at all this week and I don't know if i'm doing something wrong. I get 64+ oz of water in everyday and I live off of cheese, chicken, tuna and fish to get my protein in. Someone said If i up my protein i may start to lose again but i'm lactose intolerant and soy milk is gross to me. All of the protein shakes that I try are SICK. I don't know WHAT to do!
Any advice?
Give your body some time to catch up!!!! How are your clothes feeling? Sometimes the scale doesnt move but that shirt that use to fit is now too big. Hide that scale!!!!!!!!!!I personally feel its good to weigh ones self so you can "keep in check" but if you are obsessive that is not good. Weigh one a week instead... if you are addicted try switching to every other day and weigh yourself at the same time. Im sure next week the scale will "magically" have moved a whole bunch of lbs
Its completely NORMAL to fluctuate....especially so early out. I still fluctuate and i'm only a few weeks ahead of you! You should really try getting in a habbit of weighing yourself on the same day of the week, ONCE a week. Those daily weigh ins are gonna eat you alive, lol... Also weigh yourself first thing in the morning, thats the truest(sp?) weight!!! Good luck and don't stress out so much. When you feel like weighing in go for a walk around the block or something!

Hey there, I had this same problem a week or two ago. i was down to 207 lbs, next day i was back at 212 and didnt know why. i also, like you was weighing myself daily ( if not more than once daily....) and i think that hurt me in the long run! i have given the scales to my mom,lol ( i go home once weekly usually and i'll weigh myself then)....For me, the scales messed with my head, bc instead of focusing on the true things, Getting protein in, water in, feeling better, clothes fitting better, i was focused on the numbers game. our weight is going to fluctuate but whew..that scale can be a bad bad thing in this process i think. Then again, im only 3 months out...so i dunno!!! =) just my thoughts!!! Just dont feel alone, cus i felt the same things about a week ago!
Hi Everyone!
Thanks for the responses! I feel better today. I did something different yesterday because of my weightloss stall. Someone told me that even though I'm eating less, my body eventually gets used to the fact that I'm not going to eat anymore and so it just gets used to living off of what I eat. I have a friend, who did not have surgery, she is just dieting, and she changes up her diet and exercise routine to trick her body every now and then. Whether it's doing the reverse diet, or low carb or high protein or low fat, etc. And when she does that, her body gets confused and starts to lose. So that's what I did yesterday. I usually eat 3 small meals. I had 6 small meals yesterday and woke up and viola! I've lost another pound It was just frustrating because I was stuck at the weight that I got stuck at prior to surgery when I would diet. I would always get to this certain weight and get stuck, and back then, i'd give up and gain again.
Another thing I did was take a diuretic because I've always retained a lot of water, even before surgery. THAT really helped and I don't feel as bloated either, LOL.
Thanks for all the advice on the protein shakes. Today is Friday so i'll spend the weekend trying to find something I can tolerate. You guys are great!
Thanks!
Sherry
