I've been off the accountability threads for a while. I'm doing fine. Still maintaining about 130 pounds..occasionally dipping down to 128 or so. Here's the recipe:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Protein Bars

  • Cooking oil spray
  • ½ cup plain oatmeal (quick oats, not instant)
  • ½ cup unsweetened soymilk
  • ¼ cup egg whites (2 whites)
  • ½ tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder (1/3 cup)
  • ½ cup Splenda granulated or sugar (or 12 packets Truvia)
  • ¼ cup milled flaxseed
  • 2 tablespoons white whole wheat flour or whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons natural peanut butter
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray an 8×8″ pan with cooking oil spray.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, combine oats and milk; cook for 60 seconds. Stir and allow to cool; mix in egg whites and vanilla.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whey protein, Splenda, flaxseed, flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add oatmeal mixture to dry ingredients; mix just until everything is moist. Spread batter in pan.
  5. Place peanut butter in microwave safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds or until melted. Spoon peanut butter over batter in pan and swirl with knife tip.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes; allow to cool completely before cutting into 6 bars. Wrap each individually in plastic wrap and store in the freezer or refrigerator. Unwrap and microwave 30 seconds to warm.

Wow. I'm sad that I'm getting so distracted with life that I'm forgetting my foundation..I'm torn between the foundation that's kept me sane all these years and launching out into...what? I did okay yesterday. I kept track but didn't post it. Today I didn't even really keep track but I remember what I ate because it's basically the same all the time..

Here's what I ate and drank

coffee w/NSA Swiss Miss (actually made with splenda. I make it myself!)

protein waffle, 1/2 medium apple, 1/2 serving sf pancake syrup and butter buds

double espresso latte

24 oz herb tea with splenda (on the drive into work)..dragging my feet to go to work..I'm really not loving my job much lately

1 oz mozzarella cheese, 1 pc turkey breast deli meat

24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated

24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated

1 home made protein/peanut butter/ chocolate bar

1/2 egg burrito without hashed browns

24 oz drink mix with ice, caffeinated

1 cauliflower flowerette and 4 oz baked chicken breast left overs

24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated

dinner: 4 oz broiled steak, 1/2 small baked potato with margarine, 1/2 cup canned green beans

Totals for the day:
Calories: 1697
Fat: 92.7
Carbs: 90.2
Protein: 134.0

Now those are some low low carb numbers..how in the world did that happen? I'm trying to get my protein bars eaten..I want to make some more. I put soy nuts on the top of thes last ones and it's not yummy..If I do them right, they taste like brownies..and that's yummy.

I'm doing okay. My weight is pretty steady at 132. I'm okay with that. The stress at work isn't letting up much so I'm looking for another job. The long and the short of it.

I'm sorry you're having problems..The 5 day pouch test (diet like you called it) serves a great purpose..to detoxify yourself and your system of white carbs and sugar..it's useful for that but it's hard..really really hard. It also re-shrinks your pouch to what it was early out from surgery. After you've drank as much water as you can and drank all the protein shakes you can absolutely stand, you start over.

Protein first..dense protein will keep you satisfied longer..lots of fiber will keep you satisfied for longer..and then the water too.

20 pounds isn't that much..you can do this. Start with baby steps and plenty of things you can change without feeling sorry for yourself or thinking you're failing..Cuz you're not..Keep going. It's worth it..YOU'RE worth it!

I decided I didn't feel well enough to go to work on Friday so any planning I had went out the window..hubby took me out to dinner for my birthday, a day late and it was great. I had a coupon for our favorite cafe and we ate two giant meals for $8.00..It was baked chicken, onion rings, salad and it was great..I didn't keep track of the numbers for Friday but I did for today.

Today was off to a rough start too. Since gas prices here have gone up over a dollar in a week, no unnecesary driving. So no park with the dog today and no flea market tomorrow. We just can't spare the money. It may cost as much as $75 to fill my tank so I can get to work this next week..scary stuff.

Today:

coffee with NSA Swiss Miss (x2)

breakfast protein waffle, 1 small apple, 1/2 serving sf pancake syrup and butter buds

double espresso latte

24 oz herb tea and splenda

1/2 egg burrito (went to help a friend whose honda was in a wreck and couldn't get it home so she bought us breakfast and put gas in the dodge..$4.519 a gallon..by the time we got to the next town it was $4.629 already..sick!)

24 oz drink mix with ice, caffeinated

lunch: leftovers from friday night. 2 small tortillas, processed cheese and refried beans

24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated

hard boiled egg

dinner: fried tilapia on a flour tortilla with processed cheese..not bad..I was starving and now I'm not..I need more water. I took my vitamins ..It's still light out so I have time..

Totals for the day:
Calories: 1620
Fat: 69.2
Carbs: 157.1
Protein: 105.9

could have been worse..had i left the tortillas alone. those and the refied beans..Tomorrow we have a memorial service for a sunday school classmate who was nearly 100 years old when he passed a while back..Can't complain he left too soon for sure! he was a sweet guy..and his little old wife is just adorable!

How did you do? See ya tomorrow, I hope.

Not a bad day but a busy day..lunch with my girl friends, training session, lots of things needing my immediate attention (alway immediate..right now, urgent..what is up with that!? Can't something be NOT urgent? )

I ate pretty normal today..for lunch I had a salad at souplantation with field greens, sunflower seeds, raisins, low fat honey mustard dressing..I had the large chunk chicken noodle soup (with very few noodles..mostly big chunks of chicken breast) and some sugar free something fluff with what I believed was peanuts on top..but they didn't quite look like peanuts or taste like them..I figured they could be other nuts and stopped eating them (tree nut allergies have me nervous about eating nuts if I'm not sure they are peanuts)..

Hubby didn't take me out to dinner but I bought a yam yesterday and he baked it up for dinner with chicken thighs done on the grill..it was yummy but I'm exhausted. He made me promise to have enough energy to take me out to dinner tomorrow night..

So without posting all my food, I'll just post my numbers:

It's harder than it looks, actually. I actually have to plan what I eat far ahead of time. I reviewed my grocery bill for September and I spent about 220 for the month..That's buying stuff that is on sale and in season but that's beside the point..

I cook up chicken breasts and weigh out 4 oz of meat into snack bags and freeze it..If I have left over veggies that were good, I toss that container and a bag of chicken breast into my lunch bag. I can do the same for a can of tuna for my lunches. I love cooked cabbage or even cole slaw for that too..but cabbage is really cheap when it's in season..now it's starting to get to be lettuce season.

For snacks I have mozzarella cheese sticks, I cut them into 1 oz sticks my self and wrap them with turkey breast deli meat. I buy that in larger containers and re-pack it into 5 single slices in a sandwich bag and freeze those so that on Sunday night I pull one out and it lasts me all week..I also boil up 6 hard boiled eggs also for my snacks at work (or a late night snack when i've eaten early and stay up late).

You can't go without eating. it's not good for you! I eat small amounts through out the day..and it keeps your metabolism up and your blood sugar up and steady.

This isn't rocket science..you can do this..it's alittle work but YOU'RE worth it!

Howdy Wanda..We're doing..maybe not perfectly but it's a process. Alot of us are gainers and have some to lose..I'm okay with where I am for now..I'm up about 7 pounds from my goal (which also made me feel like a deflated balloon!)

Yeah, I do eat about 6-8 times a day and it's little more than a snack or half a meal. Alot of times I'll start my lunch and stop, but then start back up again..I can eat half a lunch and feel okay with that.

Best thing is to see where you are with your intake and then plan and pre-package what you intend to eat and keep the other stuff out of reach. I pack my lunch in the mornings for work. I screw up really bad when i have my kitchen available (staying home) so I don't know what's gonna happen when and if I retire! With money short, we aren't doing alot of stuff on the weekends either for exercise. But you do what you can..move more, watch what you eat, lower the white carbs, up the water..It will happen.

I'm trying not to get too moody this week. I need to stay positive..but I've started counting down till I can retire and look for alternative employment. My 55th birthday will be a year from this Thursday and that's when I can retire! I wanted to wait till I was 58 because then I'll be there for 20 years but if push gets to shove, it will be next year!

My eats today:

12 oz coffee with NSA Swiss Miss

breakfast: waffle, 1/2 pear, 1/2 serving sf pancake syrup

no double espresso today..i got up late..stayed up too late last night..there was no sleeping with all the thoughts going through my head and the dogs littlest movements woke me up..I even took Valerian Root to help me sleep..nothing.

24 oz herb tea for the drive to work. I didn't have any energy to go shopping at lunch..that's getting to be a trend!

1 oz mozzarella cheese wrapped in turkey breast deli meat

24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated
24 oz drink mix with ice, caffeinated (during a training session. I love doing training. I wish I could do more in that direction..maybe I need to go back to school and teach or something).

lunch: 1/2 egg burrito

24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated
24 oz drink mix with ice, caffeinated (another walk to go offer instruction..I did get quite a bit of walking in today even without going shopping during my lunch).

1 oz mozzarella cheese wrapped in turkey breast deli meat . I didn't have one yesterday so I made up for it today..I actually brought a salad today but never got to it.

24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated for the drive home.

dinner: 4 oz pork chop, sauteed with a bit of bbq sauce, 1/2 cup mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup green beans and butter buds..I like those even better than real margarine or butter.

Also, I had some sugar fee wafer cookies while waiting for dinner..I don't usually have to wait long because hubster spoils me to death by having dinner just about ready when I get home. I don't have to do anything but take a shower, read the mail or watch some television while loving on my fur babies..

Totals for the day:
Calories: 1426
Fat: 78.1
Carbs: 96.7
Protein: 93.9

Okay, those sugar free wafer cookies pushed my carbs too high. That 20 grams of carbs and 140 calories were no bueno. Meh! they were still worth it..I justified them by my stress level and the walking I did..I did okay!

CANDICE! Soooo glad to see you again..and glad you're on the upswing again too. We all have ebb and flow in our lives..right now, the stress is eating me up at work and I'm struggling to keep my composure and control. I have just about exactly a year before I can retire from the rat race but I'll bite a big bullet in doing it and not get enough money to live on..much has to change! I'm actively looking for another place to work. That's how bad it has gotten.

I divide my time between here and facebook to keep accountable and in contact with my *roots* in this journey. On facebook I cheer on the newbies and those in stalls..here I stay accountable to myself and all the grads that lurk and post too. Some days, I think I hear the crickets but that's alright. This is my journey and I'm stuck with sharing it. I'm just really happy to have a few people who need my brand of encouragement..

I hope you are well! Type at you real soon!

coffee w/NSA Swiss Miss

waffle with 1/2 pear, 1/2 serving sf pancake syrup

double espresso latte

24 oz drink mix with ice, purple (lol, I'm sure the flavor was grape but purple fits better)..during a really great bible study class..

24 oz water with the remaining ice before breakfast as we walked around Albertsons looking at marked down meat and milk.

breakfast: 1/2 egg burrito without hashed browns

24 oz water with ice

6 oz chicken leg meat, left over from yesterday

Near perfect numbers..I'm happy with that but need more water..I'll have another water before bed. I'm pretty tired. I must have done more than I remember..I feel like a lazy bum but I know I do more being lazy than alot of people do when they're really working..Oh yeah, I made my waffles for the week and went to get the Halloween decorations for work and here. I did another load of laundry too. Plus I put some things away that were still out from the leak in the back bathroom sink..the floor turned out great. no musty smell either because I got most of the water out of it before it started stinking..yay me!

I'm so looking forward to November with the family and friends coming..I know it's going to be stressful but I'm still looking forward to it.

Today was pretty good. Dear old friends came to visit us in the afternoon (I would have eaten lunch..but I did get a bit more water)..they're going to try and purchase the house next door to us..That will be really nice! I like them. They're good people..I got sooo hungry this afternoon, I felt faint. I should not have waited so long but I did have a serving of sugar free wafer cookies to hold off till dinner was done. Then when the chicken was cooked, I ate so much, I couldn't eat any of the fries! I still feel stuffed!

My eats for the day:

coffee w/NSA Swiss Miss

protein waffle, 1/2 pear, 1/2 serving sf pancake

second breakfast: 1/2 egg burrito (yeah, we went to buy another part for the car..no grocery shopping today)

a couple of containers of water (24 oz with ice).

double espresso latte (in honor of National Coffee Day)..I cleaned the machine again and it worked flawlessly..love my espresso maker!

another container of water. I did several loads of laundry and some organization things. Cleaned out drawers, moved a stereo into the living room and hooked it up..sounds pretty good too.

then our friends came to visit and we walked over and looked at the house through the windows. They were asking $31,950 and that couldn't get you the land and the well let alone the 3 br, 2ba, detached 2 car garage with a full bath in it..fencing and mature trees. I hope they do move there! They've lived in our neighborhood before. I miss living next to friends..

6 sugar free wafer cookies while waiting for the chicken.

dinner: chicken leg quarter..skiinless, boiled and then grilled with barbecue sauce..I weighed it before eating and then after..the total is 6.5 oz..not one french frie was eaten..

Totals for today:
Calories: 1213
Fat: 66.1
Carbs: 75.5
Protein: 87.3

Not bad. Protein could have been better. I was thinking about baking some sf oatmeal chocolate chip cookies..maybe later. It got alittle warm today..maybe tomorrow!

6:30 am 12 oz coffee with splenda and soy milk. The taste of my espresso machine isn't right. I
cleaned it out yesterday and now it smells. Not the actual container but the tube for the frothing..bummer!
7:00 am 24 oz herb tea with splenda
8:15 am 1 oz mozzarella cheese wrapped with 1 service smoked turkey deli meat
9:00 am 24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated
10:00 am 24 oz drink mix with the left over ice, non-caffeinated
11:00 am part of my lunch: 4 oz chicken breast, 2 cups lettuce, 1/2 medium tomato, 1 oz raspberry vinaigrette
12:30 pm the rest of that salad (got a call from hubby, our son had a migraine and they couldn't find the meds)
1:30 pm 24 oz drink mix with ice, caffeinated
2:30 pm 24 oz drink mix with ice, non-caffeinated
4:00 pm 1 hard boiled egg and 1/2 medium pear
4:45 pm 24 oz iced tea with splenda

My car broke down on the way home..Apparently a pulley froze and the serpentine belt blew and so those things needed replacing. No time for a shower when I got home it was time to get into town and buy those things before the parts store closed..so we ate at the restaurant next door.  But first I found the migraine meds and put them where they were accessible to the poor kid. He was doing much better just from the tylenol pm.

6:00 pm 4 oz burger patty with cheese (pretty sure it was american), wrapped in lettuce with pickle, onion, tomato with thousand island

So after dinner I decided to get alittle housework done..I asked my son (his migraine from earlier was much better) to go get the litter box from the back bathroom and he found the floor flooded..apparently the sink had leaked all over and the carpet from wall to wall was soaked. It took me quite a long time to get it cleaned up (with little household extracter that I have..) The shower I wanted at 5:30 was actually taken at 8:30..quite a long day!

Totals for the day:
Calories: 1130
Fat: 58.3
Carbs: 76.8
Protein: 88.6

I'm going to take those numbers and be happy with them. I need a nice ice water to take to bed with me but otherwise, I'm completely done with this day. Tomorrow, working on the car and doing laundry..I'm hoping to get some grocery shopping in but after spending $50 on parts for the car, that list is being pared down a bit.

How did you do? Have a great weekend. I plan on it!

Looks like we're gonna have even more visitors in November! The daughter in Seattle area is moving to Texas and coming through..You have no idea how this stresses me. We've had a rocky relationship for the last 25 years..I may have to put myself on the prayer list at church for help..only He can help! Maybe it won't be that bad. I've been known to be wrong before. My day was alright..alittle short on the calories so I ate a bunch of french fries. not the best choice but it was what I had.

Same exact thing here..SAME exact thing..I've taken to doing my grocery shopping after work so I don't have to deal with the negative crap..When the time is right I can say something but otherwise..not so much. I did say something to him when I was on vacation because it got so bad and he'd already ticked me off from the dog incident..I have to pick my fights carefully ..

My eats..I think I can piece it together..

coffee

breakfast: protein waffle with 1/2 pear and 1/2 serving pancake syrup

double espresso latte

24 oz herb tea with splenda

1 oz mozzarella cheese, 1 piece turkey ham

1/2 egg burrito from the weekend

sandwich made with chicken breast (4 oz) processed cheese food, sandwich thin

4 - 24 oz drink mix with ice, one was caffeinated

no snacks in the afternoon

dinner: 1 cup whole wheat spaghetti noodles, 1 cup meatless spaghetti sauce, 1/2 cup cooked ground beef. I meant to eat the meatballs but they tasted horrible to me..so I skipped them.

started feeling shakey so I ate a hard boiled egg..I'm better but I need some more water.

The best I can say is that I haven't been stress eating. I'm managing not to do that.

My numbers for the day:
Calories: 1701
Fat": 75.5
Carbs: 146.6
Protein: 120.1

I did okay..One more container of water and I'll be done.

Topic: RE: 11 years out/ daily diarrhea
As the other poster said, it can be any number of things..something that comes to mind for me is celiac disease. It's genetic and is a reaction to glutten in wheat. It's in my family so I'm hyper sensitive to the symptoms and watch for it all the time..that and allergies! I have a tree nut allergy and it generally causes hives and anaphelaxis (I quit breathing because my throat closes up) but I know some food allergies can cause cramping and diarrhea and on top of that, stress can make things WORSE..

I hope you find your answer soon.
