Congratulations!  You are a success.  I'm 8 years out and have had some regain.  I hope to get off the 10-12 lbs. regained.

I'm 8 years our and also have some regain of about 10-12 lbs.  Just recently, I've decided I need to prepare food for me whether my family (hubby/son) eat it or not.  All this time I've pretty much prepared meals that they like and I eat what they eat, just smaller quantities.  This week I fixed myself Quinua and had that when they had mac and cheese.  I made Cloud Bread for me.

Tracking your food each day is very helpful.  I use Sparkpeople.com and have set up my nutritional info to show calories, fat, fiber and protein grams.

Sorry I don't have the magic recipe to lose regain.  I'd be very rich if I did.  LOL

The Rx D is probably D2. and packed in oil. not only you may have difficulties to absorb - but also convert to D3.

To maintain my D3 at 60-80 level I take 2 x a week 50,000 IU D3 dry ...in a capsule form.   When  my D3 was low - I used to take for 4 weeks) 1 -50,000 Iu dry D3 every day... My blood work show D from 29 to 95...  my doc was impressed taht I wa able to get it that high that fast.. he told me taht normally people needs 2+ years to get it from low levels to just normal.. whatever...

if I were you - I woudl seriously consider ordering the D3 dry 50,000 IU -( Biotech - on Amazon) and I woudl take that for 2 week or so and retest... I am not a doc - I can't tell you what to do... but the RxD- so very ineffective.. IMO...

Thank you so much! I've called my surgeon's office and waiting on call back. If can't get in soon I'm going to have to go to ER. Now very nauseous, diarrhea (sorry for graphics) no appetite at all. I appreciate your reply.

Call your Bypass doctor you also need to get your B1 checked ASAP and you need to see a neurologist.  I have been having these things going on also. You need to get ALL your bariatric labs and a thyroid work up. ASAP. They are probably going to fuss but this is your life.SOme of this stuff is not reversible. Some is. Call tomorrow. See what they say and message back here. There are some things that can be done. My experience was I was told to get a bariatric fusion MeAL REPLACEMENT shake and start using that...it has  a full vitamin in it...Cornerstone is also prescribed. This is in addition to the regular vitamins.  There are other prescription as well. Bariatric Fusion MEAL REPLACEMENT is on amazon without prescription. Good luck

I'm not sure how credible my advice is especially since I'm in the same position (I want to lose 20-25lbs). But one thing I can say is that finding an accountability which is easier said than done is super important. Probably even more important (and super cheesy) is that do not give up on yourself. Think this is 30lbs and if you give up it could be more - this is very much in your power to do!

The other thing is to take inventory of all the good habits you had and see which ones you need to bring back (i.e. water, limit carbs, food journaling) whatever it was that kept you disciplined.

It's been super hard for me to put this into practice and stick with it for more than 2-3 weeks at a time. It seems like life gets in the way for me personally - but I have to be honest with myself that I'm not putting my health first - everything else seems to take precedence and I need to start taking care of myself.

One way is to get back on Obesity Help (for sure) and pay it forward.

Hi. I can relate to having to educate primary docs on what our needs are. I am suffering big time due to being stupidly non-compliant on taking any supplements. Went to primary care after 4 days of sudden horrible twitches in both calves, tingling, creepy crawly feelings, horrible fatigue, and muscle tightness and heaviness. Had to practically demand a B12 shot and asked him to check D. Drew blood AFTER fixing the shot so result was more than 2000, and D was 8!! Very very low. I told him if D is that low, calcium probably is too, and he said I didn't need calcium checked (it hasn't been checked in 4 years), and told me to just take the RX D he gave me (50,000 mg) a week and take over the counter D, 1000 daily. That was 3 days ago and no change yet except less twitching, not much tingling, but legs feel like cinder blocks they are so tight and heavy! I got calcium myself and am taking 1000 a day and pray it helps! If no significant change in a few days I'm going to have to go back to surgeon's office (been 6 years since surgery) and beg them to evaluate me.

Topic: Bad neurological symptoms please help!

Hi. I am 6 years from bypass and all of the sudden this past Monday, I began having a lot of tingling, twitches, electric shock like feelings in both legs from the knee down. I have been very very stupid to not have taken any supplements for the past three years. I know how stupid that is!!! So, got highest level B12 I could find and took it. Did nothing. So, after 5 days of those horrible symptoms (oh yes, and unbelievable fatigue and nauseous), went to primary care, told my symptoms and had to ask him to check B12 and D, he gave me a B12 injection and after waiting for 30 minutes afterward, drew blood. Next day got call from office that B12 was greater than 2000 but D was 8. Yes, 8! Said was very very low and gave RX for 50,000mg of D to take once a week and also take 1000 a day, bought over the counter. He did not check calcium or iron. Twitching and electric shock feelings are better, still some twitching just in both calves, but legs fee like cinder blocks, stiff, and I'm very worried. No weakness really, just heavy feeing and stiff. Anyone ever experienced anything like this? I know I'm an idiot for not taking all required supplements, but I don't know if this is electrolyte issue, iron issue, or what? My primary care does not seem to want to check EVERYTHING that we know should be checked, iron, iron saturation, ferritin, folate, calcium, binding aspect of calcium, etc. Anyone ever have this type of issue, twitching calves, fatigue, stiff heavy legs???

Topic: Today I celebrate my 12th Year Since My WLS

Today I celebrate 12 years since I had my WLS.  I am so elated to say that I lost 100 lbs and have kept it off.  I have struggled from time to time with regain, but have always been able to use my tool to get back on track again.

I owe it all to my surgeon Dr. Robert Bell.
