Hi guys I'm recently knowing about weight loss surgeries, I would like to know if some one have above 200 cm common channel from the ranges of 200 to 350 cm , that applies to the three bariatric surgeries ( duodenal switch, RNY distal or Biliopancreatic bypass .how much fat u have lost and what are ur current body fat percentages and are u satisfied with the longer common channel and ur results. The other things have do u have bathroom issues such as diarrhea or flatulance gas and did it interepted ur life. And other complications such as bowel obstructions or hernia . Please reply as it will help me in my decision making process, and the q is for the 3 mentioned bariatric surgeries.
Mashallah! That is wonderful. Congrats! I wish you the very best this Ramadan. I definitely agree with your doctor about loading up on water. I am no physician, but I've heard the same as well. The problem is that you may be up a lot during the night. If you were abroad, you would probably be up most of the night anyway and sleeping during the day. That is very typical as the workdays are shortened for those fasting.
I'm Muslim as we'll from Pakistan, happy Ramadan kaream to u all. I pray that in this time of Ramadan May ALLAH show me the right way to have weight loss surgery or do it naturally or use dnp drug which is deadly if not used properly. To all Muslims out there I say , if u have a medical problem and u cannot do fasting, try to give zakat or money to people who have not the money to buy one time a day meal from them. Also In advance happy eid to all . And also Islam is the religion which teaches us to respect all minority and other religions.
I am so sorry. It sounds to me like a few things, eating throughout the day (causes more of an acidic environment in your mouth), malabsorption of D (likely from the surgery--well definitely from the surgery), and acid reflux. Acid is the absolute worst thing for teeth, it will break down your enamel and cause weak teeth, that is exactly what causes cavities. Acid + Teeth = Cavities (and cavities are simply weakened enamel). I am currently going to a consult this Friday, and this is something that scares the bejeebers out of me. I am a dental hygienist. When I went to the seminar last night there were two vsgers (unfortunately because of my profession, i am just a teeth person), One had missing teeth on the side, the other looked like they had major perio issues. I didn't want to be rude and ask if they had reflux issues. I will be talking with the doc Friday and will try to find out as much info as i can on the results of this after surgery. Get your calcium in, keep your reflux at bay, if it is a problem, go see your doc for something that will lessen the acid (there are ligaments in your mouth that connect your teeth to your gingiva, increased/constant acid will weaken your teeth.) Maybe go to trying to eat only 3 meals per day (snacking all day means that the ph in your mouth is acidic most of the day). That is likely the "why" of it anyways. Best of luck, after meals swish with water, floss daily, and try to lower the ph in your math with less frequent meals and reducing reflux (talk to your doc!). Get those supplements in!
My insurance specifically excludes excess skin removal... so my advice is to start saving your money... even if they will cover some skin removal... there may still be other things you want done they do not. I wish I had saved up my $$ much sooner so I could be further along in my journey!

I'm almost 8 years out and am up 20 pounds from my lowest of 120. My goal was 130 and I held there til a couple of years ago. Can't exercise much because on knee injury. I'm only 5'1" so I'm in the overweight category and it's killing me. Going through menopause and taking prevara to regulate and on anxiety meds. Don't know if that's part of the problem but I do snack a lot and tend to want to eat more at night. I'm on facebook too. Add me if you want. Lorrie Riggsby from morehead ky
I'm right there with ya.
My 5 year surgiversary was yesterday - I am up 30 lbs from my lowest weight, and 25 from my "best" weight of 160. On Saturday I weighed in at 185.6.
Of course I could give you a list of excuses. It could be hormones, it could be stress (my mom lived with us for the winter), could be could be could be.
But the truth is I stopped exercising, and the carbs have been back in force. Things I said I'd "never" eat again became part of every day. Every. Day.
So here's where I've gone with it. I'm exercising, but not fanatically. I am 58 yrs old so I'm probably not going to become a kick boxer. I'm doing some water aerobics, a lot of stretching, and yoga. It feels good.
And I'm on a pretty strict low carb diet much like our post op diet. Cut out the sugar and refined carbs. Ramp up the water intake. We all KNOW what to do.
And the old habits are staring us right in the face. I'd love to keep this thread moving along. I have moved since my surgery and no longer attend support group meetings (another mistake!).
Thanks for putting yourself out there!
Im also 5 yrs out. I have lost & then only regain in just a few days apart.. I have found myself grazing on nuts, bananas, watermelon etc... I want to drop the 25 I have gained in the last couple of yrs.. How do we stop the urge to snack..... I exercise 5 sometimes 6 days a week...

So I am 2 and a half years post op and I regained 30 lbs. I was in a bad place mentally and it showed itself as a horrible 30 pound re-gain. I am thrilled to say though that I recently started a 24-day challenge through AdvoCare and, it feels like its pretty much back to basics. 4 days in and I am down 5 pounds!!! I am so happy I could dance! and I hate dancing. If anyone wants to know more, please ask or PM.

This is the hardest part about surgery. I beat myself up so bad for regaining the bit that I did. Sometimes I feel like a complete failure. I just refocused on getting healthy again, and I am praying this 40lbs comes off. Doing a 24 Day Challenge right now and that is kick-starting things a bit, as I have lost 5lbs in 4 days. Now to just keep the ball rolling! Lets do this together, get back on track!!!
