I'm not as far out as you are by any means, but I developed a shellfish allergy suddenly a few months after surgery. Like another poster mentioned, I discovered that the PPI's can cause food allergies so I went off of what I was on, but the allergy hasn't gone away. It's one of those tricky things because I don't want to push testing it too far. My next step is a visit to the allergist to see what's going on.

I'm almost 7 years out from my VSG and in addition to worsened seasonal allergies, I have developed a gluten allergy and intolerance to other grains (corn and rice).  I was prescribed Protonix after my surgery because I had and still have terrible acid reflux, and recently learned that long term use of Protonix can cause food allergies.  So, I've attributed my allergies to that.

Great advice, Sunshine.  I'm 7 years out, and have put back on 35 of the 70 I lost.  Trying really hard to get this train back on the rails.  Starting back up with vitamins, lots of protein, no more diet sodas, and no more slider foods.  I don't think we have to resign ourselves to going back to where we were.  We have tools we didn't have before.  :)

Just as a reminder to many please watch your weight gains.  I am almost 10 years out and I have gained back almost all my weight.  I won't bore you with the details but I'll tell you please watch your food intake, take your vitamins religiously and let me be an example to you that it can happen.  I have not gained all the weight back but at least 85% so take the warning.

Thanks Laura, the excess tissue is shoved up under my ribs and forces them against the natural curve, snapping them.

Thanks, but my gastric bypass Dr. is trying to send me to a gynecologist.  It's not a sex issue, it's a weight-loss issue. Five fractures were caused by sex, one from a fall and one from bending over. I am definitely seeking a second opinion!
