Topic: RE: Weight gain after full hysterectomy???

Thank you for the input.  I gained 20 pounds after my breast lift/implants last winter and have only taken about 5 off.  I already have a closet full of clothes that I can't wear, yet along the thought of how horrible gaining anymore weight would make me feel.  Good motivation to keep myself in line. I am already nearly no sugars/starches/carbs, so I really, really hope things go well.  I guess I had better plan on working out a lot more. Thanks again!! :)

I was told before I even had surgery that when I got to my lowest to prepare for about a 10 lb rebound on weight. Which at 125 - 135 is right there. I was like you and would panic too but just remember when it's up just pay attention to exercise and food intake. And remember your tool is still there it's just more work to maintain it. :)

I purchased BioTech Pharmacal D3-50 (50,000 IU), 100 Capsules from amazon and I take it at least 3 times a week now.  I was not taking my vitamins as directed and my results were so low.  Here is the link - http://www.amazon.com/BioTech-Pharmacal-D3-50-000-Capsules/dp/B000A0F2B2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407431838&sr=8-1&keywords=50+000+iu+vitamin+d3

If your surgeon hid the fact that he did the wrong procedure you may have some recourse through the courts. Contact your local bar for advice and attorneys WH do medical malpractice.

Cowboy, first things first. Make sure that you have all of your records from your surgery, including all insurance records, with the approvals for surgery. The get aii medical and treatment records.

once you have this information, you have 2 options. First writs to tour doctor's malpractice insurance company and make a claim for malpractice or the better option is to contact an attorney who pursues claims/ suits on behalf of patients fo malpractice. Since he did the wrong procedure, it is malpractice. More inpomtantlt he hid it from you. Act as quickly as possible - get an attorney on board to help you. Particularly if you want to have the correct surgery in the future..

OMG, I have been 2 years post op (RNY) Lost 200# and have broken my ribs  during sex FIVE times.  (I know what you're thinking and no it's not wild, and my hubby's only 170 lbs.) I believe it's caused by the pushing of my abdominal apron into my ribs. We have ruled out Osteoporosis.  The X-rays are not showing the fractures, and I have received nothing for pain.  I finally talked the Dr. into a  bone scan which revealed the current and past fractures. (HOORAY!) Is this enough proof to get help from insurance to have the extra skin removed? Is this a problem shared by anyone else?  Oh & if ur tempted to give positional advise, I have also had a recent knee replacement. ;) Thanks.

I cannot imagine how skin -- which, even when there is a lot of it, does not weigh much -- would actually break bones, and I would expect the insurance company to raise more than just an eyebrow at this claim.  (And then stamp it "denied".)

If you say that it cannot be from the weight of your husband because he only weighs 170 pounds, why do you believe that it is caused by what is likely only 20 pounds or less of skin?!?

Many insurance companies no longer even consider back pain when determining eligibility for a panniculectomy because they recognize that the amount of weight from excess skin is minimal (unless you started out at 400+ pounds and are looking at having a lot of fat AND skin removed for mobility reasons in order to finish losing the weight).

although you might have ruled out osteoporosis, I would see a specialist to determine if you have any number of other conditions (including vitamin deficiencies) that are making your bones brittle.

I am am post menopausal.. and I am on Bio-identical HRT.  You can and will put on weight if you let it. I gained 25 lbs.. but finally had my "wake-up call"and I am in a process of losing that.

I already lost 15 lbs.. 6 more to go... .. I am already in some of my 6's size pants..
But I noticed that almost any carbs can change my Blood sugar and cause gain. I eliminated starches, and sugars... I stll have my own treats, but,at this point in my life - being lighter means less back pain... = better quality of life... I can live with no starches.. hate my back pain and sciatica, and belly pains...

Yup, been there, done that.  Also re-lost all the weight I re-gained, plus more.  I engaged the help of a dietician from my surgeon's office, took advantage of the WLS support group there, and also work the 12-step program of Overeaters Anonymous.

Topic: Weight gain after full hysterectomy???

I had one heck of a long ride with complications, so long story short, I have no stomach and 4 feet of my intestines are gone. My surgeon built a stomach, equivalent to a small vertical sleeve made from my small intestin.  NOW, I have have to have a full hysterectomy due to early severe carcinoma insuti (spelling?), which is basically the beginning of Stage 1 cancer in my cervix/uterus.  I am doing my homework to make sure I take any extra supplements for bone density maintenance, hormone research, etc., but the most bothersome thing I have come across is that the average woman gains 25 lbs or more after a hystectomy!!  I have done well and did have about 15 pounds of regain, but I am terrified about the thought of gaining 25+ more pounds!  Anyone out there who has had their hysterectomy after their bariatric surgery who can give me some advice please???  Thank you so much.

Your doctor can prescribe vitamin D in a 50,000 iu pill taken once a week.  It is more easily absorbed than the over the counter stuff and is actually the correct formulation.  Best wishes. :)
