Ask your Dr about http://www.injectafer.com/  (it's pretty new)

Mine came back very low (despite faithfully taking iron and eating a lot of iron rich foods) a few months back.

2 injectafer infusions, 30 minutes each, 1 week apart and my labs were back in normal range again. It's something as a RNYer we need to watch. Lab draws at least 1 a year. Malabsorption is a double edged sword.

Hope all is resolved.

Topic: Can't handle spicey foods like I used to

I used to be able to eat pizza, catsup, tacos, etc. Now these thing are too spicey for me. I read someplace the after having gastric bypass your taste buds can be more senstive to spicy food. Anyone else have this issue? I can take one bite of something I used to eat, have to stop eating it, my mouth feels like it's on fire sometimes.

Topic: Aspartane poisoning is REAL
Im over 13 years out and went from 287 lbs to under 150 and steady. My weight has fluctuated over the years but never got larger than a size 12. I am a size 6 at this point and 59 years old. I wanted to warn other members my age about what long term artificial sweetners did to me. I had whiplash about 5 years ago. (Of course, an uninsured driver rear ended me.) It took a very long time for me to get better. Then a couple of years past and my pain was coming back stronger and stronger. An MRI showed arthritis in my neck so I was prescribed Norcol for the pain. That would help me get my work done. I am a professional woman who works more hours than I should behind a desk. I got up to taking it four times a day. Some days I just couldn't get the pain to go away. I was feeling lazy and had no drive which is so different from how I have lived my life. I spent $750 to have blood work done to see what I was deficient in. I got prescription vitamins for that and still didn't feel better. Then I asked myself what am I doing that is making me feel so bad. I had my ah ha moment. It was the amount of diet sodas I was drinking a day 2 to 2-1/2 liters. To make it worse, for over 40 years. So, I switched to unsweetened tea. I lost weight AND my pain went away! I'm telling you I am pain free! I feel like I am 15 years younger and the old me is back. This office is going to start rockin because KD is fixing to get it moving! If you are consuming Aspartame stop now. If your joints hurt and you are consuming Aspartame stop now. If you don't feel good and are consuming Aspartame stop now. See if this is the cause. I wasted so much of my life not feeling good and it was all because of what I chose for my caffeine. I'm not on here often. Oh, my secret to why I kept the weight off? Before I put anything in my mouth I ask myself, "why am I wanting to eat this" If it is anything but because I am hungry, I reach for something to drink and you can bet it's not going to be a diet soda.

Your story sounds just like mine

I did find a physician he did an EGD found the same thing

I had no restrictions from the get go

This new doctor told me my insurance will only pay for one bariatric surgery in a life time

How did your procedure go

Topic: RE: Belviq

I'm really interested in this medication

But I don't want to be throwing money out the window

I had open RNY my physician rx me phentermine year or so ago

I could not feel any physical effects from that medication at all other than not being able to sleep

People that I know that has taken this medication explain to me what they had physically noticed while on the medication (which I had none literally could of taken Tylenol and got same results)

I asked my doctor and he was wondering if not being absorbed where it should be(he is my ob/gyn)

The closest bariatric center is 3 hours away and seems everytime I call leave message and nobody calls back

Has anyone else experience this problem with RNY or am I expecting too much

I had RNY in 2008. So far i needed iron infusions in 2011, 2012, and 2014.  A lot of us RNY can't absorb the iron. Or can't take enough to absorb.  Good luck.

I have a moderate sized hiatal hernia. They never took it out; she said it doesn't come into play with RNY gastric bypass surgery. So I wonder why yours is? Hope all goes good for you.

His reaction and what he said scares me. I am exhausted and freezing (all of which I assume is because of this)....I get dizzy, irritable, and terrible headaches (which I thought was allergies).....LIFE cannot be easy. AUGH.
