Topic: RE: Trouble Digesting 10 years out

I had this same thing happen to me over the course of the last 6-8 months. Slowly it became more and more difficult to eat without vomiting, and going without food or drink for hours. It came to a head last weekend when I could not keep anything in for over 2 days and I had to go to the ER for dehydration. They did an endoscopy, and it showed several things. 1) a stricture from my pouch to small intestine, which they ballooned 2) my pouch had shifted so that it actually emptied to the side into my intestine instead of straight down which is how it was initially supposed to be, and 3) my pouch muscles had also almost stopped working to move the food along. 4) my pouch was producing an excessive amount of acid. So the doctor also put me on Reglan for the food movement, this will be temporary, and the doctor says this is expected to help repair the muscle tone in the pouch, and protonix which is probably similar to the Nexium I have been taking for years, so not sure if this will make to much of a difference. But I do know that once all those things were done, I can now eat my normal meal size with not so much as a hiccup or anything coming up. I don't think I realized how long I had let this become a normal until it completely was not anymore.

Sadly it does cost $$$ - I was able to get my flexible payments to cover the cost - so I'm sure if you have medical insurance and you get a doctors note that it's important to your health you might get it approved for insurance.

That is awesome!!!!! Is it something that you have to pay for... Like a program? I just quit my job to stay home with my grandson because my daughter has special needs. So I lost a lot of money by quitting... So is this something you're able to do on your own? I would love a partner ?

Topic: RE: 9 yrs out and gained back 80 lbs since 2015

I am a RNY graduate - I had my surgery back in 2002 - I lost approximately 125lbs. Today I weight 176 and 2 months ago I weighed 202. The 202 scared me - as I didn't want to see 265+ again. I am on a program that is working wonders for me - it's BeBalanced Hormone Re-balancing (it started in Pennsylvania) here in Maryland. It's similar to HCG diet (which I did and I got down to my previous weight of 158/160- which is the weight I was able to maintain) but you do get more to eat and more variety (all stuff you get at the grocery store- but clear - organic. This BeBalanced program works - and you get immediate results - which let me tell you if I don't see the scale moving I get depressed and I will not be compliant. I personally don't think I'll get down to the low 150's again and be able to maintain it, but I can say I love how I can fit into my 10/12's again :) Do some research and see if this program seems good for you - actually my doctor is very excited with my results as she wanted me just to get below 200 and I surpassed that quickly. Personally I think she wants to try it too! :)

No exercise - actually they make you refrain from it :)

The key is you are catching yourself before it's totally out of control. I keep an old picture of me handy to remind me where I have come from and reminding where I don't want to go again!!

Hi Cyndie,

I am a RNY graduate - I had my surgery back in 2002 - I lost approximately 125lbs. Today I weight 176 and 2 months ago I weighed 202. I've had to have iron infusions too - and the last one took me to trip to the ER. The 202 scared me - as I didn't want to see 265+ again. I am sorry you have had these problems. I am glad you feel better. Best of luck losing the regain. I am working on mine too. I am 209 and want to get down to 174 lbs. so that I am overweight rather than obese. I also have a lot of nice clothes that fit at 174 lbs. It is a challenge, but never give up. Tri

  1. OK guys it's been a scary year for me... I had a ulcer that I didn't know I even had. I was at work and started sweating profusely, got dizzy and they had to call an ambulance because I passed out. To make a long story short, I had to have emergency surgery on a bleeding ulcer that every time my heart would beat it would pump blood into my intestines. After the surgery I had to have a blood transfusion. Then the next two months I had to have iron infusions. I finally feel better but it's time to take my health serious again!!! I am working on a 45 lb weight gain and need to work on my water, protein, and vitamin schedule...... anyone want to do this with me?

There is an excellent article on this website regarding RH. It explains the mechanics of what happens, why it happens, and how to avoid it. It has seriously helped me manage those symptoms!
