Thank you! I was having issues with those so makes sense. :)
The bone broth protein is really collagen protein. still Ok for us for skin, bones, hair. But it is not a complete protein. I use that in addition to the min complete protein we need daily. (60-80)

I had my surgery 10 years ago and since my first year I experience something similar to what you are describing. Possibly? If I am in the wrong angle/position to pick something up. Like in my husbands SUV and I lean forward and bend to pick up something that fell to floor or sitting/leaning on bed and Bend to tie my sneakers , I will get this horrible muscle spasm that hurts like the devil.. sometimes when doing sit-ups on floor or my decline bench can trigger it as well. It feels like my stomach is doing a somersault. If I am standing up and pick something from floor it normally does not happen the angle has to be just right. Not always certain what might trigger it. When it happens I have to stretch up real straight until the pain and muscle retracts back to normal. It will feel sore a little while, not unbearable. I would say happens once a month or less. Since almost 10 years I have learned angles I can't do like a truck or SUV seats (angle different then a car which will not trigger it if I pick something up).
I mentioned to my WLS physician assistant and she felt my stomach and did not know what it could be. I go yearly and she asks about it. She advised me to leave it alone since not often as going in exploring I could end up with a worse problem. Since it is not that often I have dismissed it as something I live with. I have not had a catscan for this particular problem but did have one 10 days out for a complication I experienced (ischemia) that was treated with antibiotics. That catscan did not show any hernia etc at that time! Who knows but I am not messing with it like she told me ! Been 10 years next month.
does this sound like what your experiencing?
Edited to add you don't mention when or what type WLS you had??
Hi!! I have been looking and looking for anyone who is dealing with something like me.. well I it seems like I may have found someone. I had a little different style surgery done, mine was to remove my right ovary in 2008. And about 2 months afterwards, I remember taking a bath and sitting up, and just pain. The best way to discribe it is a Charlie horse. And it burns and hurts so badly! Eventually it's subsided. I remember it taking my breath away. I am STILL dealing with this. It happens whenever it wants to. I could just be bending over to pick something up; getting up from a chair; or even using the restroom. And of course taking a bath. It's HORRIBLE!! I have noticed that where this hurts, my stomach will suck in just a bit and then release when it subsides. And I also have the residual pain that last for days. Almost like a super sore muscles. I see my OBGYN next week, well I should say the 5th new one, in hopes they will help. I've had CT scans and nothing has showed. It seems so hopeless. I will say my ovary was suppose to be removed through my belly button and they had to remove it abdominally due to many adhesions and scar tissue. I hope to hear back from someone, anyone. Feel so alone!!
Thanks for answering! That is so true, hidden sugars are sneaky. Yep, carbs are not my friend. I do like the bone broth. I buy an organic one that is sugar-free, low sodium and gives me 9 grams of Protein for 8 oz. Pretty easy to sip plain too. I find it's a lot better than the whey protein, so as long as it's working for me plan to stick to it. As I've gotten farther out from surgery I've moved to removing anything processed and just feel better. I don't consider it a fad, I guess because the first time I heard about it was from an article by Dr. Louise Parsons. She discussed it back in the 50's and 60's. :)
I'm only 8 years out (almost). I still get 90 + grams of protein per day, and I still use whey protein supplements. I make sure the supplements have 5 grams or less of sugar or sugar alcohols. And look for hidden sugars. I have issues with RH as well, had my gall bladder removed almost 20 years ago and I'm not sure that has anything to do with it. I just know if I eat too many carbs, I crash. So my diet consists primarily of protein and vegetables. I've never tried bone broth, I imagine its pretty good. I just haven't decided yet if it's worth trying or just another fad that will fade away.
Hi! Walking the same walk. I had RNY 2006, lost 100 lb. down to 180' and held there until 2012. Started fostering my two great-nieces and then adopted them. The weight started coming back on as my energy levels tanked. I was always tired after going from being retired to being a mom to two under 10. I started drinking, not a large quantity, but most days to "relax".
Long story short, I gained back 40 lbs. by 2016. Christmas Day I prayed for strength to quit drinking. Then had faith that I had and went from there.
I was lucky enough to find Trim Healthy Mama. Good basic plan, low carb, high protein. I took off 20 lbs in 4 months. The best part was the price, I bought the book for less than $20 on Amazon. Tons of support websites and other mama's working their program. Podcasts too. I still do parts of their program.
Then found Bright Line Eating, that helped me with portions and accountability. I started losing more and got down to 170 by last Halloween. It was a process of retraining my eyes and adding a bunch more veggies instead of carbs. All things I knew but wasn't doing. The thing that helped me the most were the videos on youtube explaining things. They really helped me to stay motivated and encouraged to stick with it.
After going thru a death in our family last month I realized I had started to backslide again, not eating my veggies and choosing sugar to feel better. (that actually made me feel bad! go figure.) I am also up 15 lbs. Damn it.
So I'm here. I'm on board again with journaling my food, I use a wonderful free app on my phone called Bariatastic. I'm making my zoodles and staying away from sugar and carbs. I am in for the long haul.
What have I learned? I only have to do one meal at a time. So I focus on the current meal. I also know that my lieing ***** voice is not my friend and can't get food unless I put it in my mouth. And last but not least, my battleground is not in my house, it's at the store! If I don't buy it, it's not a choice to eat it at home. So making up a menu and trying to stick to it really helps. And other people that offer advice and opinions do not get to choose my food for me, I do. (That includes my husband and kids!)
Hope this helps you! I know doing the Quiz on Bright Line Eating helped me to see that I am a stress eater. And boredom and worry are big stressors for me. I also hate exercise. I've been able to lose without it, but do need to tighten up for sure. lol Nobody needs to see that.
Don't give up! It's totally worth making the choice for one meal. :)

Hi! Haven't posted in a long time. I had RNY 2006. Lost the weight and kept it off until 212, put back on 40 lbs and went back to basics to take it off again. I use 3 clean meals, no snacks, water, calcium, and magnesium.
Had to have Gall Bladder removed 2017. Since then have had multiple problems with reactive hypoglycemia any time I eat too many carbs.
Changed my protein source from Whey Protein to just real food. Then noticed my hair thinning and nails splitting and cracking. Tried whey protein again and more problems. Major sugar type rush and crash.
Lately was introduced to Bone Broth and it seems to be doing the job. I supplement my regular food meals with Bone Broth twice a day. I track my food on Bariatastic App. Good app for before surgery too.
I shoot for 60 grams protein a day. Was wondering for anyone at least 10 years out, are you still using whey protein? and are you still keeping to 100-120 grams protein? and last but not least, is anyone using Bone Broth as their protein supplement?
Thanks in advance!
I always thought it was when you reach you're goal & maintain it for a certain time but then most of us went on our way until we hit a road block & brought us back here to our starting point I guess.
