jastypes, i just started going to OA after a 45lb regain. if you don't mind my asking, how do you work your program? i've met people who work theirs several different ways.
The 12-step program of Overeaters Anonymous is working for me. My head and stomach agree on the right amount of food for me at each meal. I eat to nourish my body. I had a 45 pound regain, which I re-lost, plus more. I highly recommend it. It is free and full of warm people who understand.
Blessings, Jill
WLS 5/31/07. Maintaining a weight loss of 141 pounds and feeling amazing!
It is hard to accept the post-WLS body... I reached a point where I felt it wasnt "fair" that I started gaining weight in 8th grade and was overweight thru HS, but did all this work to lose weight and was stuck with excess skin. Still, I would much rather deal with the excess skin then go back to being overweight. My suggestion is start saving for plastic surgery now and save as much as you can. I wish I had started much sooner. I am 8 years post-op. November I am 3 years post extended-TT and as of last week 3 months post BA/BL and arm lift.
I never experienced much hair loss, I was 110% compliant with getting in protein and took biotin.

brenlee, while I don't know what to say about what you should be taking or not, I do have these two things:
take what your bariatric surgeon tells you to take.
Please do NOT allow others to make you feel bad, stupid, ignorant, etc! Especially a site administrator! This person should be removed from their perch for acting liker that. Maybe you don't know, maybe you do..that's not the point. The point is that you cannot allow others to make you feel that way. You are intelligent enough to ask those with experience on this site, and your doc and you have your blood work done and can read the results. Don't give this person any power to make you feel anything but good about yourself!
There is a saying I love: don't argue with ignorance.
Good luck. hugs
The best thing is to get a metabolism test. I had one at the YMCA for $125 and it will tell you how many calories to gain weight, lose weight and maintain weight. .

I am 8 years out.
I take two flintstones in the morning
Three times a day bariatric advantage calcium
B12 every other day
My bloodwork is always good... I have had to make adjustments to iron/b12 in the past but everything else fine. I tried switching vitamin brands and iron was too low so went back to flintstones and if I take b12 every day mine ends up to high.

Kerry,
I totally understand your frustration. I am super busy myself. I have 1 full time job and 3 part time jobs that suck up a lot of my free time in addition to life stressors and just 20 some years of bad habits and emotional eating. It snuck up on me for sure and being around people who eat crap all the time didn't help me. I did have a great group that helped me know how to eat better when I was pre and post op at Mayo clinic. My first suggestion is look for weight loss surgery support groups at hospitals...they are usually free and so great to go and be held accountable. I just started going back myself. I cannot afford to have a trainer, but I use a gym and home workouts- currently starting T25! Start small with small goals. Be more than happy to be an accountability buddy. We all struggle and my friend (who is a personal trainer) always says that our life is a roller coaster. We can't be perfect all the time. So don't think this is failing...just time to change some habits. You recognize them- that is the first step! We can do this together :-)
I am on myfitnesspal and have fitbit. Would love to have a tracking buddy!
How many old timers are finding that they develop gluten intolerance? Many years after a RNY, are you finding that there are new foods that you can't tolerate? I am ten years out from a RNY. Anyone living in Northern Colorado who might want to chat?
Me too. One bite of anything containing hot pepper will make me sick for 24-48 hours until that food works it way all the way through my system. Thanks for writing this post. It is good to hear that I am not the only one. I am ten years out from a RNY. It seems like the problem has gotten progressively worse as each year goes by.
