I too have experienced a transfer addiction, am trying to do better and have been feeling shameful at times.  This is my first time back on this site, and I think I need it.

Topic: Over 2 years later - if you have regressed?

Has anyone lost weight after surgery and then after 2 years, regressed and gained about 25 lbs back?  Were you given any advice by the professionals?  I've been avoiding the hospital, hoping to get back on track myself, which is probably pretty dumb.  Help!

I am still having issues with puking.  I feel like my brain and stomach are on totally different paths.  Any advise on getting them together?  Also while this is a good issue, I can't tolerate fried food, I've only tried it twice (fried chicken, fried hamburger) can't keep it down.

Topic: RE: Vitamins....what to take and what not to take???

I had many complications and ended up having 4 surgeries which started as an RNY and resulted in a vertical sleeve made from small intestine because my stomach basically died and had to be removed.  Therefore, I likely do not absorb as well as most of you, BUT I do have bloodwork done annually and it is ALL the tests that are normally done at the one year mark after surgery. To that end, I have found that I have become defficient on several things over the years. Therefore, I take the following:

Solaray High Energy Once Daily Multi-vitamin (daily)

Solaray 1,000 mg Vitamin C with bioflavanoids (daily)

Soloaray Magnesium (300 mg) & Potasium (40 mg) (daily)

Potasium 99 mg (daily)

Biotin 10,000 mg (daily)

Zinc 50 mg (daily)

Raw Iron 22 mg (daily - Also had 4 iron IV infusions at the beginning of the year. I do not have a menstral cycle, so it isn't as difficult for me to keep my iron levels reasonable)

50,000 iu Vitamin D (weekly pill)

Vitamin B Shots (bi-weekly)

Sounds like a lot, but I just take my supplements with a protein shake in the mornings and I am good. I still get tired sometimes, but I think it is because I am extremely busy. I work full-time, go to college full-time, own and maintain a large home and try to live life :)

Best wishes to you!! Keep up the bloodwork and make sure you are getting ALL the bloodwork done that your bariatric surgeon would do at the one year mark after surgery. Otherwise, there are too many things that can be missed.

You know the guidelines and rules. Proteins first because they take the longest to get through (even with a stretched intestinal opening) and weigh them. You normally wouldn't be able to eat more than about 3 ounces of protein at a time. Stick with no/low sugar, no white breads, pastas, etc. You can knock this out. Just go back to basics and remind yourself of portion sizes by weighing and measuring for a few weeks.

My first step to re-losing the weight I re-gained was going to a support group where people understood what I was going through.  I use my WLS support group and my dietician in conjunction with the 12-step program of Overeaters Anonymous to maintain a healthy weight and a healthy way of eating.  Miracles happen in these programs.

I would start by tracking every bite I put into my mouth with something like MyFitnessPal.

Find a new surgeon and get checked out to make sure your pouch is still in working order. Make an appointment with a nutritionist. Stop making bad choices. Limit your calories to 1200 to start and see what that does. Protein first, then some veggies. Cut out the crappy carbs like crackers, potatoes, and bread. Get out the measuring cups and food scale and measure every bite. Track your food on myfitnesspal.

You can lose it again, but it will be hard work. Forgive yourself and believe you are worth the effort.
