Thank you! Really appreciate how you make your Bone Broth. It gets really pricey to buy it.

Also appreciate the tip on the Collagen and Gelatin powder. I've used the NOW Collagen in past.

I'm so sorry, I know how difficult regain is! I started a Ketogenic lifestyle in December and have done well. I have a more in-depth post under the RNY forum if you want to take a peek. Be sure to talk to your doctor though before changing your diet :) Good luck!

I use two scoops of Isopure Zero-Carb protein powder and blend with water & ice, that gives me a nice 50g of extra protein a day on top of the 55-60g I eat. It is the only protein powder I can use that doesn't make me dump because of the high sugar/sugar substitute content. It also has BCAAs which help prevent sore muscles from exercise.

It is normal to regain after the 2 year mark. Forgive yourself and start from here. Track every bite somewhere like myfitnesspal. We are often eating more than we think we are especially the further we get out from surgery.

Make a plan and follow it. Good luck!

This part of OH doesn't get much traffic - as I'm sure you've noticed ;)

If you can head to the Main Board and leave your message and questions there, you'll likely get more input. A lot of us have been through significant regains and have been successful at losing the weight again. I've had a couple episodes (I'm a slow learner I guess, lol). One was 40 pounds and the last one in 2016 was over 50 pounds. I've re-lost them both and actually got to my lowest post op weight ever seven years after my original surgery.

So it is definitely possible to lose any amount of regain. I'm certainly not the only one who has done so. You might try typing "regain" or some such in the search box and you'll likely get many results. I'll try insert the link to the Main Forum here so you can get a bit more feedback.

Oh and good luck. You can do it. With or without Wellbutrin.

hey everyone!

So ill try and make this as painless as possible.

I had surgery 12/2/15 I started out weighing 215 I lost 13 lbs in 3 months doing the nutritional counseling before surgery. So after surgery I was 202 I lost 72lbs in 4months, bringing me down to 130. My dr.'s goal for me was 145, I couldn't except that so I exceeded it. I have no extra skin.

When i started gaining weight was when my psychiatrist took me off of one of my meds that helped me suppress my appetite (wellbrutrin.) I know I shouldn't of listened to her, but I did. :( so while i was off the wellbutrin i just ate and ate and ate. I literally cou;d NOT CONTROL my self. I wanted to stop I know i was doing the WRONG THING. The wellbutrin helps me with my anxiety (without wellbutrin i eat for anxiety) on top of me being still depressed from having my son 3 years ago. trying to find the right medicine. Well little did I know she was the wrong Dr. well actually I did now I just didn't have the energy to change Dr.'s and finally I did it a couple of months ago. And now i feel like the Wellbutrin is only somewhat working. I went back on the same dose as i was on before the other Dr. took me off. I'm still eating how im suppose to. and even though the scale isnt going up i feel like my hips are getting wider. it might only be me, as im sure many of you still feel fat when your really not. I need help I don't know what to do.

I had RNY in 2003. I make my own bone broth. Pro Tips: be sure to use organic and get an electric pressure cooker. I have a 10-qt electric pressure cooker that I set for 240 minutes. As long as I use lots of marrow bones and meaty bones and just a few veggies for flavoring then my broth will gelatinize when it cools. This is the best quality! And I get about 4-5 quarts -- a week or two worth of bone broth! oh, and you can use the bones over and over. So it is very economical. And it is very easy to make.

I don't think that bone broth is very high in protein, though. So I also take Zint Collagen powder in a beverage every day and/or Now Foods Beef Gelatin powder. These brands were recommended by my clinical nutritionist.

Welcome Back! Let me know and I can help you find your old account if you want. I would suggest you post mostly on the main forum and the forum of your surgery type.

You have already taken the hardest step by saying enough is enough and now I want to get back on track. I maintained 118-125 for over 10 years after losing 200 pounds. Due to a personal tragedy I gained and hit the 190 mark a year ago. After several starts it finally clicked and I am back to goal losing 70 pounds of regain. Here are some steps that helped me and I hope they will help you too! You may have several starts and stops but don't give up, don't beat yourself up. IT WILL CLICK!!! Our tool works if we work the tool and get back to the basics.

Planning/Preparing

Remember when we were preparing for surgery? How many meetings, classes and such did we attend? We were told the more prepared we were the better our chances were for success. And they were right. Go through the house, car and work place and get rid of trigger foods. Stock up on foods that will keep you on track. I removed every bad carb/sugar temptation and replaced it with lots of protein, veggies, grains and fruits.

Journaling

Get back to journaling. This will help you identify when you feel like eating, stress factors and any triggers in your life. Once you identify these factors, this will help you put tools in place to keep you from eating. It became clear I was not taking time for me anymore. I worked my day job and then spent the rest of my time caring for my husband. It was easy to reach for fast, prepackaged food. Since I purged my home I have to eat clean as there are no other options LOL

Use a tool to track you're eating and exercise like Getting Started with Health Tracker. Once I started to track ever bite and drink it became clear why I had gained.

Goals/Rewards

Make a list of goals for yourself. Make them realistic and small. Some of mine were move more, purge all junk from my home, eat more protein. If you didn't make a Weight Loss Surgery bucket list when you first had surgery do it now. GREAT reminder of all the things you can enjoy in life after losing weight.

Food

In general, a long term post-weight loss surgery eating plan includes foods that are high in protein, and low in fat?, calories, and sugar. Important, vitamins and minerals are provided as supplements. (if you had a different surgery adjust this to your food plan).

Water

Water is our Best Friend. I have to say I never went back to pop or any bad drinks, however I was drinking tea like crazy. What is wrong with drinking tea? I was either using sugar or 3 equals and 3 sweet n lows per 32 ounce glass. I found once I started carrying one of the metal bottles of water to keep it cold I drank water all day.

MOVE!

I can't say enough about how key this was for me. The reason I kept my weight off for almost 10 years was no matter what, I kept moving. If I could not go to the gym I would walk. Grab a cart and walk all the isles at your local box store. I loved Zumba, bootcamp workouts, lifting weights. When I stopped, the weight started coming back. So for me I am starting slow to avoid injury by walking and using some of the workouts on my Demand TV. Find something you love to do and it won't feel like a pain in the *** to do daily.

Support

If it's an option "run" don't walk to a support group. Come here on OH daily for support and participate in one of the food threads. It helps you be accountable and also great ideas for food prep.

Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Haven't done protein shakes or anything else in a few years. Thanks for the reminder to get that protein in. Also had WLS in 2006 but am now 40 lbs up from my lowest. Am determined to get back down.

Will start tracking posts here for the support and reminders of things I should be doing.

Thanks

Had WLS in 2006. Went from 310 to 215. Spent several years at 22 but now am back to 255. Scared!!!

But I know that I graze all of the time on carbs. Need some encouragement. Not feeling well. Hurting all of the time in joints and vague pains. Have kind of lost hope. Was a member here years ago and remember getting support from folks who had undergone WLS at the same time I did. Are those forums still around?

Thanks
