I guess I'll throw away. I've thrown away more than enough junk food by eating it all my life!!! Thanks.

Topic: RE: Ferritin Level 6

My ferritin was 7 back in 2010 and I got an infusion and since then it has been trending down no matter what I do so I had another transfusion recently and I will be checked every 3 or 4 months and if it starts tanking again I will get another.

My doctor said that some WLS patient just don't absorb iron well after surgery.

I felt terrible, too, for several weeks and since the infusion I feel like a new person.

It is really nice to hear from people having had this done so long ago.  My family is telling me i will regret changing my insides. Surgery is in a week; i have read and read whatever i can about this, talked to many people,  and feel good about my decision.

I'd recommend throwing it away.  Or donating it to a local food bank.

Topic: Acid Reflux?

Hi I don't know if I'm posting on the right board and I apologize for the long post but Here it is, I am 29 years old I had gastric bypass surgery in January of 2006 lost 140 pounds and gained back around 40. The only issues I've had were low iron, kidney stones, and gallstones. So I've always been sorta gassy since the surgery never belching though.

Within the past few months I started developing consistent heartburn, and I tried to stay away from tomatoes and spicy foods etc. But within this month I developed a sore throat which I thought was acid reflux but the on call dr determined it to be strep and gave me antibiotics. I took those and continued to feel worse I could not even drink water without feeling strangled and then constant burping for he next several minutes by the 5th day my throat felt 1000xs worse and I felt like I was been strangled.

So I went to the ER they did a xray and said my throat was swelling so they gave me a steroid and then a cat scan. They said the catscan was unremarkable, go see an ENT. ENT did scope said throat looks fine. I saw A gastro dr who said told me to start taking Prilosec and wait 3 MONTHS to see if it improves.

I have been on Prilosec for 7 days and bought a wedge pillow to raise my head when I sleep. However I still can only tolerate a banana, rice cereal, rice milk, and thank God plain baked chicken. I tried to eat a carrot today and again had the intense strangulation feeling and starting burping nonstop for ten minutes and then I'm just left with a lump feeling in my throat. Can anyone give any insight into what this might be? I am an emotional wreck at this point. Thank you so much in advance.

Topic: Protein

I bought a case of the New Whey Protein not shortly after my surgery. After reading about it on this forum that it was not the kind of protein I should have I did not use it-also at the time I could not stand the taste- so instead I bought Premiere Protein. Now I am wondering what I should do with the New Whey Protein? I can actually stand the taste now if I put 1/2 with a bottle of water. Is it ok now.to have? Does it help at all or will it just be a waste?

Topic: RE: Ferritin Level 6

Just got back my first blood work after two years. (Lost my insurance, got a new position and got it back.)
Everything was normal range except blood level iron and ferritin. It was 5. And I had been feeling like hammered **** without knowing why. So I've started taking daily iron supplements, feeling noticeably less tired, though still not exactly cracking along. But yeah, that's pretty dang low, and I would imagine you're not feeling great, either. My nails had been getting really brittle and peely, I was just bone-tired all the time, getting every bug that came along - very unlike me, I usually have very good resistance.
I need to be retested in a couple of months, and then I will decide if I've seen enough progress to just stay the course with daily supplements.
Good luck!

You look amazing!!

Have you considered joining a gym and using a trainer (at my gym you get 4 sessions with a trainer to help you get started on what you want to do.)
