Thank you so much for your reply. I have an appt with a new gastro Dr this Friday since I really was not comfortable with the first one. I will ask about those two things and I have a whole list written down of all my symptoms.

Topic: RE: phentermine or topamax or wellbutrin

I've been on Topomax and Wellbutrin for different reasons. I can't imagine why they'd be WL drugs.

FWIW, Topomax has the nickname Dopomax for good reason: you become stupid on it. (I was on it for migraine prevention.) It's very disconcerting. I was on Wellbutrin for depression. I'm on a different med now. I didn't lose any weight while on it.

Good luck on the follow up labs. Please post an update!

For now, I am going to increase my protein to 120 gms a day. I am also adding an enzyme, with meals, to increase protein absorption. They will recheck labs in 2 months. If no change, or worsening, I will go to a hematologist.  I understand that the albumin is created by the liver in response to protein intake. They did not test my zinc and copper but I do take magnesium with zinc daily.  My D and B are fine, in fact the doc commented that my D is better than most people who haven't had RNY.  My ferritin is at 39, which is after supplementing with two tender iron a day consistently.

Topic: RE: low blood protein levels

I had my RNY in 2008. I am also dealing with low protein and albumin levels.  I was told by my nutritionist to start back up on my protein drinks and to get at least one egg in daily.  (The white part is albumin) I haven't had follow up labs yet (this Thursday). I am also having problems with my zinc, copper, and iron.  I still take my vitamins and supplements on a regular basis, but I am still going to follow up with my nutritionist and see what recommendations she has.

Topic: low blood protein levels

Hi everyone... I just had some follow up blood work done and it shows that my protein levels are low, along with low albumin (protein) and my white blood count is also low.  I think that I was not absorbing enough protein, (and consuming too little to actually absorb as much as I needed) so I am going back to having a couple of protein shakes a day.  Has anyone else had this happen, and if the treatment plan was to increase your protein intake, what level did you increase it to and how long did it take before you saw a change? Thanks!

I'm sorry that sounds awful and frustrating. Have you been checked for an ulcer or obstruction? I would ask about ruling out those 2. Are you still in contact with your bariatric surgeon? If so I'd go to him/her if not I'd go back to that Gastro Dr. Write down all the symptoms you are experiencing, severity, any pattern you can see (after eating, first meal of day, worse at night... anything like that) Do not leave the office without feeling satisfied you have a plan of action in place. Ask them how long you will try that plan of action before trying something else and what would that next step would be.

Hoping it will all be resolved soon and you will be out enjoying life! Best to you! Keep us updated!!

Topic: revision after sleeve?

I had my sleeve in 2011 lost 100lbs then in the last year I have regained 40 mostly in my belly. Still dieting, exercise even diet pills were no use. So we did some test and I have a large bubble in my stomach. My choices are resleeve or bypass, the Dr wants to do the bypass, but I've been reading a lot of people have had the switch done. Has anyone had either of the revisions and had success? Trying to weigh my options. Thanks

If you enjoy it, have it just maybe don't count it in your gram totals for the day.

Yep that's what my Hemo said to me... we may just fight this forever... so every few months a retest and possible infusion. That injectafer was awesome (and quick) if you aren't getting that one ask your Doc about it... I guess it has less adverse reactions (hives, headache, nausea that others too)

Hope your numbers stay in the black!
