Hi, Im also plus ten yrs post op.  Just a few thoughts.  I suggest keep an extremely detailed ingredient based diary for a few days.  Too much fat/sugar/spice/dairy/lactose in food. What did you eat prior to?  Also, are you stressed/upset/worried/anxious?  Stress will do it too!

I have multiple family members that have had this surgery and the entire family for the last 10-15 years has supported an walked through every step of the process including what happens years out for older and younger patients.  If you would like some additional feedback or support from another 10 years out patient who is successfully managing her weight with no dumping, gastro-interitis or other intestinal issues, check out the link below or also you can contact my sister www.carrielitten.com.

Our entire family is now a support system for all those going through or about to go through the bypass surgery.

Topic: RE: Looking for a Support Group in the San Antonio Area

You might post this on the Texas board (use the drop down screen above that says Forums to find Texas)

Also OAC has a list. I might call the closest on the list and ask if they know of any too: http://www.obesityaction.org/advocacy/support-groups/texas-s upport-groups

and in August the OAC Obesity Action Coalition is hosting the Your Weight Matters National Convention in San Antonio www.YWMConvention.com an awesome event tons of support, local connection making. You can hit that website and sign up for e-alerts as the event gets closer the website will be more detailed.

Best to you!

Topic: Looking for a Support Group in the San Antonio Area

Hi All I am a little over 2 years Rouxen y surgery and I have recently moved to San Antonio, Tx. I went to a support group but learned that there were no other bariatric patients going to it. I would really like to get into another group that meets regularly. If anyone knows of such a group please leave the address or name of the institution where it is being held. I have lost 105 pounds to date and I want to keep it that way. Thanks all wishing everyone great success.

It is important to get your labs done every year.  I am 11 years out and I have to take iron.  I get aches and pains.  I started taking vit D3 because it was low and that can effect your thrid as well.  When not absorbing all the nutrients of food like we use to it is important to take supplements.

Topic: RE: What does full feel like? And where?

I can feel it now, at least sometimes.  I think it was a combination of the healing process, plus eating very soft and liquid foods.  A meatball fills me up, even though I chew chew chew.  I can even feel water and pills now, so I'm thrilled.  Down about 40 overall, 10 pre-surgery.

I've had the gastric sleeve so i don't know if you will feel the same, but I can tell you when I'm full. I feel it under my chest a little maybe right under the breat bone. When I really over eat and to full it feels like its under my rib cage very painful like Thanksgving stuffed not regular full ... and most times i get heartburn if I have overeaten.

I brought the Jilian and Bob DVD's from The Biggest Loser they are actually really good and give a very good wrokout. You don't have to leave the house and save a lot of money. I found out a lot of things I used to eat/drink before surgery I don't like anymore either. I keep a lot of peanuts around for protein and when I feel the shakes. Good luck ...
