Topic: One year out and I have a question about food going forward

I am one year out and down 101 pounds.  Luckily I have had no complications. My question to other grads is, is it possible to just go on a regular healthy eating program after you have hit goal weight? I see so much about no carbs, no fruit, etc.  If I had been a healthy eater all along I would have been able to eat these and would have stayed at a good weight.  Now, I am at the good weight and am just wondering if following the right balance of foods will work or do I really have to completely cut out all carbs and fruits, etc?

Topic: Starting over again... hard work!

Well, it's time to hold myself accountable. I used to be an active member on the site (lost my login info & don't use the old email address anymore, so new profile!****il I thought "Hey, I've got this under control, I've lost over 125 lbs, I'm fine". After having 2 kids postop, I got lazy, I don't exercise, and I definitely don't eat right. Sitting in bed with a bowl of popcorn and a diet soda 15 minutes ago, watching "My 600lb Life Before & After" all I could do was cry and feel ashamed.

That was the final straw.

I am an emotional eater, definitely. I've had a lot happen in the last few years, and I turned to food for help. I keep telling myself I won't buy any candy, won't eat a load of crap, will stop drinking soda, and there's always a reason to put it off. Recently my father asked me very delicately if I knew I'd put on some weight. I felt my face flame. I HATE that feeling, when people notice. I know I'm not as large as I was when I started, but putting on 50 lbs (I HATE TYPING THAT! ) is horrible, especially after I DID work so hard to lose it.

Having my pants not fit and "blaming" the dryer. Eating the leftovers from the kids instead of putting them in the fridge. Eating crap at work because I "forgot" to bring healthy food from home. I need to stop all this, but most importantly, I definitely need the support. This site was my lifesaver when I started the process to get approved. Hopefully with people helping me hold to what I need to do, and forcing myself to be accountable for my actions and eating, I can get this weight lost and FINALLY get my skin surgery. I got approved December 2012 but then found out I was pregnant, so that got canceled! I'm done with babies now, so I can focus on this weight loss and getting approved again for the panniculectomy.

Topic: RE: I'm back. Not sure of this is the right place for me?

Nice to know I'm not the only one! I'm 10+ years out and after 2 babies I'm definitely NOT at the weight I need to be, mostly my own fault. I need to start from basics again, shrink the pouch because I KNOW that I have stretched it eating too much, and I think the #1 thing that we both need is peer support! Hubby recently gained a bit of weight but he's been skinny his entire life, so he doesn't quite understand why me being at this weight is emotionally hard. Let's do this together, we CAN be hot mommas and be happy with ourselves!!

Topic: RE: Fat blockers two years out?

My thoughts are that this is something you should be talking about with a therapist instead of trying out some fad diet pill.  Being obsessed with this isn't a healthy thing.

Topic: RE: Can your pouch stretch and is surgery the only solution?

You are not alone, I believe that your pouch can stretch as well as the anastomosis (opening from pouch to intestine) which cause food to empty quicker. I had surgery in 2009 and have regained ~30 lbs. I am starting back Monday to follow the rules and eat right. I have reverted back to old habits, eating junk, drinking fluids with meals, eating slider foods. I can eat more but still a lot less than what I use to. For example I went out to eat yesterday and got the seafood platter, I was only able to eat a couple of shrimp, crab and bread. Before I would have not got past the bread. I no longer dump so sweets are a huge issue for me. I need to eat right, RNY was a quick fix for me and I feel bad that I failed it. I went from 277 to 170 post RNY, didn't lose a whole lot to begin with. The rest is up to me, my pouch is my tool, it still works I just need to help it....maybe the same applies to you, as for alcohol, I went through that phase too, thank God someone talked some sense into me. Good luck!

Don't put a question mark where God has put a period!

Topic: RE: Anyone tried Hcg drops/diet to lose the regain?

The HCG Australia weight loss protocol effectively while taking in the required amount of HCG for dieting will definitely prove very effective and an outstanding weight loss progress is bound to be observed.Utilizing HCG Diet Drops combined with a tight diet has been discovered to be the quickest strategy to lose fat without compromising your own overall health.

Topic: RE: phentermine or topamax or wellbutrin

I take topomax for migrane both pre and post op. I don't think i absorb it "as well" after, and it makes me VERY DEHYDRATED. in the summer, i have to cut the dose in half (always have even pre op) because a side effect can be that a person does not sweat and therefore overheats. This side effect is WORSE for me as a post op. It does seem to curb my apetite still, although not nearly as much as it did pre op.  I should say i have a TON of other meds I take including ulcer meds, so there may be some interferance from those.

Dehydration worse,

not sure about absorbption, seems to be slower

appetite sppressant--meh

headache relief.......have not had one, but if i stop the med i get bad migraines so I think it works for that.
