try taking ferrous gluconate instead of ferrous sulfate. It is much more easily tolerated.

Thanks for info regarding the reason that I take a vitamin c with my iron. I've just done it out of habit for years.

Well..... I'm back as of Dec. 1 on this website. I will be going on here daily now for support. I just saw your comment where you were asking if I still needed a partner. ..... YES!!! I sure could use a partner to talk to and ask questions and get ideas. If you are still willing let me know. :) Good luck to you as well!!

I'm sorry for your loss it's very hard when your love ones pass. The saying...this too will pass. Most of the time takes so long to pass. I know because I loss my mom 6 years ago along with 3 brothers and since then have gain so much weight. I can't seem to get back on track. So every now & then I come to obesity help for support because it's so hard to be normal since my rny. Good luck to you & my prayers for you. Stay healthy!

Power Crunch bars advertise no sugar alcohols. They have pretty good stats in terms of not being high in carbs and they are delicious.

Topic: RE: POST GASTRIC BYPASS (RNY) SURGERY HYPOGLYCEMIA

It is not as uncommon as you think...mine started about 18 months after surgery. I did wear a CGM for about 3 weeks and saw that I seem to spike more quickly than normal from food and then it falls fast. I have both what I would call regular hypoglycemia- from waiting too long to eat and reactive hypoglycemia from eating something too high in sugar- although it doesn't have to be like a dessert or something... or then there is the perfect storm if I don't eat for a long time and then eat something that strikes my BS the wrong way. There is no predicting what will send my blood sugar down either, as things I have eaten many times and been fine ... then one time- boom.

I always say the measure between dumping and hypoglycemia is eating food will not help dumping... When your BS is crashing you need food.

Thank you. It is appreciated. Coming back to this concentration on my health gives me something to care about: me! It's been awhile and it actually feels good.

I just wanted to tell you I am so sorry for your losses. Be gentle with yourself. You have suffered a lot of difficulties and you did the best you could to comfort yourself.

Now you can comfort yourself by doing things that make you feel good physically, not just emotionally. It sounds like you are making a good start. I know it's hard but it gets easier as time goes on.

I will keep you in my thoughts.

I'm 15 years out. I've battle low ferritin too. I do tolerate iron. But even taking iron wasn't sufficient. I know you said you weren't tolerating iron. My scheme which worked was to take iron alongside Vit C in morning. The Vit C serves to increase stomach/pouch PH, which supports iron uptake. If you take calcium supplements, don't take the at same time as iron supplement. Calcium lowers PH, and lets more just pass through. 48 hours can show noticeable improvements. Also cheaper than infusions. Your problem with iron might be your dosage is too high. Consider trying what I've outlined.

Topic: RE: Charlie Horse feeling in the stomach

I had WLS in 2012 and for the last 2 years or so whenever I bend or otherwise squish my stomach muscles into an odd shape I get an intense "charlie horse" in my stomach muscles. Like, I feel like my intestines are knotting and twisting and I have to hold real still and breath deeply until it passes. It is SO intense. I am always scared I will pass out. I also had a C-section in 1995. I wonder if it has to do with cutting the stomach muscles? I've not seen a doctor about it. Every time I go to the doctor, they are pretty much useless and I didn't want to spend the money to get a shoulder shrug and tell me to lose weight.
