I am 15 years out. I have always had ups and downs with eating as far as 'how much' before I feel full. Some days I can eat a light sandwich and almost fini**** Some days I can only eat about half and feel full. My surgeon keeps reminding me that it will always work and at times when I feel like if the food is not nailed down, I can eat all day long are normal feelings.
As far as the motivation for losing weight, my weight has gone up and down a bit. I lost 120# in the first year, but knew that 100# weight loss would be about where I should be. I recently lost 19 pounds and want to lost 10 more. I just have to remind myself to chose the healthier choices. I will be more full with chicken salad than if I eat crackers and chips. I would rather eat crackers.
Hi There,
First of all congrats on you WL! This is always going to be a struggle for US. It's not easy and not a cure for obesity. However, I can tell you that I was able to gain my regained weight off a few yrs ago and was also able to lose more. What I did was dropped all the carbs out of my diet (bad carbs) - so no bread, pasta, crackers, chips, and especially no sugar...you know the drill. I turned to dense protein - meat, chicken, fish and lots of grilled veggies. I did eat a little fruit to solve my craving for sugar. I was able to lose and keep it off. I now reward myself from time to time, but do not keep the things that make me gain in my daily diet plan. Good luck!
thanks, I have taken only 30 mg per day for the longest time and it seems I'm pretty low in ferritan so its getting raised.
Hi, I have been taking iron, even as a fat girl. I still take iron, {after RNY} 65mg, every day. My iron count is pretty great , taken every day. I know exactly when I don't take it.. it shows in by being tired. I am faithful in all other vitamins. my Dr. said my iron pills from Walmart, Nature maid, are fine. pretty cheap too. under 3$. good lucK to you. Peggy
Hi Kritsi, I saw your post about regain and I wanted to inquire about the new programs you mentioned in your post. Can you please share this with me. I had my surgery on 8/1/13. I have gained back 36 lbs since December and I need help. [email protected] is my email address. Thank you.
Christine
I drink a lot of water and this either moves it or makes me vomit which helps dislodge it. A whole packet - naughty. Take a few only out of box and put box away next time;)
No one has recommended I stay away from low carb. It is just what happens to me. I don't know if it is just the combo of WLS and no gall bladder or just my body. Good luck with your WLS. I am going to start counting calories this week. That is the only thing that consistently works for me.
Just curious about your statement about low carbing with no gall bladder. I too have no gall bladder but none of my docs have ever suggested that I should not follow a low carb eating plan because of that. In fact, my endocrinologist and the bariatric clinic I attend all promote low carb eating. It doesn't seem to bother me - I try to keep my carbs at about 20-30 grams daily. I have not had wls yet - well - let me correct that. Had a lapband in 2010 that was a total failure and was removed in 2011 due to a slip. I now am pre-op for bypass. Is the carb/gallbladder just a personal issue you have or has a doc/dietician/nutritionist recommended you not eat low carb because of gallbladder removal?
Thanks,
Catherine
