I'm not sure why you'd want to go on a fad diet to lose the weight. You probably tried those pre-op and know they don't work or last.
Start tracking every single thing you put into your mouth with something like My Fitness Pal. That should give you a good idea of what you need to change in your diet to get yourself back on track. You can do it!

Hello group,
I am 10 years out from my surgery, I gained weight due to some poor choices, but decided to get back to work. If you are long term, struggle with weight gain, and are back on track...please talk to me. I just completed the 5 day pouch test and lost an incredible 12 pounds. I started at 207, and today am 195.
My surgery was April 5th at a start weight of 330 pounds. My lowest was 135. Maintainded 152 for many years and now Spang back to 207.
Keep up all the hard work every one. I'm looking forward to getting back to goal.
Im not new here, I just lost my password to my old account. You might remember me as Rae a Coon. Look me up you will see my old profile. Oh I wish I could get back into that. Lots of good stuff.
thanks
I am 6 years out and i feel your pain. I lost a lot of weight and then gained a lot of it back. 125 was my lowest and then up to 198 lbs. I been doing the 21 day fix and finally the weight is coming off. Its learning portion control again and clean eating. after doing 2 months i am at 176 and not looking back. Shooting for my goal of 140 lbs by December. We can do it. They don't do surgery on the brain so its all us now.

Today I stumbled across OH and couldn't believe how I could have forgotten this place I learned so much and got so much support from.
I had RNY in May 2007, a week after my 20th birthday. Time sure flies! I feel some days I can't even remember my 'past' life because I do feel that I've changed a lot since then.
It's true what they say, surgery doesn't fix anything. I look at it as a second chance. Every day is still a struggle, weight will always be an issue for me. People do regain weight. At one point I had regained 40, which I have managed to lose (plus 10 more!) but it's all about making choices.
I remember my support group leader saying that once the 'honeymoon' phase after WLS is over, you're just eating like a 'normal', what they don't say is how hard it is to eat like a 'normal' person when you've been so used to eating like an obese person your entire life.
It's a lifelong roller coaster, but still the absolute best decision I ever made for myself.

Thanks the list of post op things to remember. I am trying to keep focused on these things too, daily. I prep for WLS and life after surgery fanatically and it was worth it all. Post op coping skills are my gold for success. I been maintaining since going back is too scary. Thanks again for sharing your experiences for staying successful.
What about D3 value? didn't see that on your list of vitamins to take. At 2 yrs I was feeling tired and when I got my blood work, I hade low D3... 3 months later after 5000iu daily things were back where they are supposed to be.
I believe this is called a gastrogastric fistula and is resolved with surgery.

I didn't revise to the lapband until after losing the weight and having the 3 surgeries. I will return to mty for the rest of my surgeries. I love my sleeve. I had a lot of scar tissue build up around my band and it caused it to tighten suddenly and my band had to be removed in an emergency surgery.
12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.
Thank you Chris and IAWTB! I am so grateful to hear about Dr. sauceda. I would also love to hear more about your experience revising to the sleeve. What helped you make that decision? Has you already had skin surgery, or did that happen after the sleeve? Many thanks again! Jamila
I'm right there with you - during year 5 I had to deal with reign (35 lbs for me). I'm now just over 6 years out and within a whisper of my goal weight!
Soy protein is ok for us as far as we know.
I am NOT a fan of liquid diets or other crash diets. It's all your decision but here's my thinking:
Did we try diets like these before?
Did they work?
Did we maintain weight lost on crash diets?
Do others maintain weight lost on crash diets? (My dear friend sold Herbalife about 30 years ago - worked for a while but then....)
But the bigger questions IMHO are:
What have I learned since having my surgery?
Did those lessons "stick" or am I back where I was 7, 10, 15 years ago - looking for the quick fix?
Do I know what I should be eating?
Can I commit to being honest with myself and taking care of myself to get the 20 lbs off?
Now, I will tell you that losing my regained pounds has been a slow process. Very slow, compared to the initial post op weight loss. I've said here that it's like chiseling stone with your toothbrush. But the basics are the key - and your pouch will still work for you! You KNOW what to do. You don't need to ask us about the flavor-of-the-month diet that will cost you big bucks. (And yeah, we've done that before, too.) Here's what I did:
Consult with my dietitian
Water! (I'd even gotten away from that)
Vitamins! (Although I'm good with them, reinforce what you are doing WELL!)
Protein first - dense protein will be very satisfying and you won't be hungry
Veggies next - for fiber and complex carbs
A little fruit
Cut out the simple carbs such as sugar, bread, etc. - and of course all the junk because that's where the problem really lies.
Get moving! Even a little to get back in the groove.
Best of luck to you!
