Debbie.... I attended a group where everyone associated with me is welcome. I personally would find another group if my husband was not welcome...afterall he went through hell with me when I had my WLS (hospitalized for 3 mos.) He stood by me and I will always stand by him. I am sorry to hear that your group leader has put you in this position and to send it to you in an e-mail? Valori

How Rude!! My husband and I both attend the support group meeting which is run by Hamot Hospital in Erie. I am going on 3 years post op and he is in the final process of competeing all the requirements. They do not mind if support people come and neither do I. We have pre-op people come to our meetings also, even though they have a group of their own. Ours meets every third wednsday and the pre-op meet the first wednesday. Personally I really do not get anything out of these meetings, it seems to cover the same thing month aftermonth. Also I wish they were a little more social, but because it is sponsored by a hospital I guess they are limited on what they can do. I wanted to start a sub group but only got one person who was interested. Our support people are one of the most important tools for our success. You would think they would want as many people to attend as possible Natalie

I'm 2 1/2 years out. Yes, I attend support group meetings as often as I can. I have no problem with support people attend, in fact I think we should encourage it. My ex would not come and she had no clue what I was going thru..... Tom
